NEED INFO:CL65v12tt/CL600v12tt-engine/turbo differences.

did a search and came up empty. need some advice on where i can attain this info. i know at least the 65 comes with at least another .5 liters. are the turbos different?internals stronger or different?intake? etc, you get the picture. on the fence between a cl65tt or cl600tt. both cars will be ecu'd&tcu'd,filtered, exhausted. how much more power & feel between both cars with the same mods? just trying to justify spend an extra $35K for the 65.

You should just go drive both. They are two totally different cars.....

E55 then E63, now back to an E55
I thought the 600's were naturally aspirated V12's?? Is this true of the W221 S Class as well - What's the scoop w 07+ S Class Sedans and the motors?

Update: Just looked at a couple 05 CL600s on ebay and they appear to be twin turbos as well. Now I'm confused.......

02CL55, with the mods you are talking about doing to both

your best bet would be the 600 in my opinion. Especially with the modifications that you specified, what your getting in the 65 (that is if the 600 is not a sport model) is a body kit, quad exhaust and wheels. If it is a sport model and you decide to go with an aftermarket quad exhaust unit you basically have everything the 65 does. That is besides the difference in price. Both the 600 and 65 are faster than 03-06 55 kompressor models. However, the AMG 65 seems to have ecu tuning changing the way the power is put to the ground over the more luxurious 600. Naturally you can imagine why they change the way the power is delivered between the two models to accommodate the different style of driver who would most likely be interested in these automobiles. In any event, in my own experience, it seems as though the only thing the 600 is lacking is a tuned ecu which you have also mentioned that you are going to modify any how. With that in mind I say to you, get the 600 with the sport kit. Do an eisenmann race exhaust and tune the ecu/tcu. With this you will be faster than stock 65's and even some tuned ones. With the edition of the tuning to a 600 you are essentially driving a 65 in my opinion. And yes I have driven both, both stock and modified.

can you ellaborate more?

drove a stock 03 cl600 & stock 05 cl65, but they were far apart in time for just brief test drives. both felt very powerful with the 65 setting off the traction light alot more.

....dont forget those huge amg brakes. mainly i was just talking in general about the engine of both cars. i know if you ecu a 600 it puts you at the power level of a stock 65. as for the exhaust-i was planning on doing a turbo back setup. 3'' . bigger down pipes, better cats, better mufflers. from what i here, doing a exhaust on these cars is a huge gain in power.
but does any know-
are the turbos the same?
internal parts the same?
i know the 600 is a 5.5 & the 65 is 6.0
anything else differ between the 2 engines?

According to my reading of AMG press materials, the 65 engine has longer stroke, upsized pistons, larger fuel injectors, higher intake lift, longer valve duration, larger turbochargers, larger air-to-water intercooler, and oil jets that spray the bottom of each piston. The other improvements (as mentioned) are the larger 15.4 in front brakes with 8 piston calipers and 13.7 in 4 piston caliper rear brakes. The powertrain and half shafts have also been beefed up (not sure if true of the 600's).

Very interesting. I was just wondering why someone would ecu/tcu a S/CL65. The torque and speed is phenomenal with a stock car. Wouldn't traction become a factor if you ecu'd/tcu'd the car?

IMO, the stock S/CL65 has issues on wet pavement, mainly traction.

TMC listed the differences correctly. The 65 has higher power levels possible, just due to all the various differences. And the 65 just looks better.

You could always get the tune, exhaust, and intake for the 600, get bigger brakes, and call it good. You can get close to 700hp with the 65, and about 640hp with the 600. If you dont think you will need that extra bit of power, get the 600, spend $25k for mods, and call it good.
