CL55 and CL 65 engine cost $$$

Reading about the $70,000 (unbelievable!) replacement cost for the CL65 engine, and somewhere back I heard the CL55 was around $25,000 . . . has anyone actually had to do this? I know many will recommend finding insurance just in case, but for someone without the insurance (like me and my '04 CL55, 64k miles), is it a serious concern?

Thanks everyone - -

My E55 engine got quoted around 38K by dealer including labor. CL55 is practically same engine as the E.

If the average 05-06 S65 or CL65 blows the motor, its totalled! Hard to believe teh replacement engine is worth more than the car itself!

It really is. I wonder what will happen once these things have 80k, 100k, 120k on the odometer? It seems like the resale price would drop very quickly, because of the gamble in even getting one in the first place. Any thoughts? Also, are there any real reliability statistics out there?
