Comment on Tires and Acceleration
I wanted to respond to one of ATrain's observations in the Kleeman post, but it is closed. I have noticed that my 02 CL500 Sport that now has relatively worn rear, nearly slick tires (275 Dunlop 9000 Sport A's that it came with), seems to accelerate much faster than it did with more tread on the tires. Of course, the engine is now broken in, but I am confident that the car is faster on the nearly slick tires, which I will replace soon, as I want more traction on wet roads. I remained concerned that the 03 CL55 that I expcet in Feb/March will overwhelm the 265's that it will come with and do not understand why MB reduced tire width on the 03's. Will check with MB to determine ther reason, but will probably put 19X10" AMG wheels and 285 tires on the rear.
BTW, I trust that the juvenile exchange in the Kleeman thread has been halted for good and that Fast Eddy will not be permitted to register under another name. This forum can be an instructive place for those of us who own these remarkable automobiles.
