I just turned down a great deal. Am I nuts??

But what you've stated is not what I meant in my post. I was pointing out that the European market cars may not be always as well equipped as their U.S. counterpart. And a well equipped U.S. specimen my friend, is pretty desirable to the European customers who probably don't even care about gas prices.

Having more options in Europe doesn't mean that most of the buyers there will load up their cars with them.

Look, cars in the US are a lot cheaper than in Europe. Most of this is taxes. However, manufacturers here can save some of their "lost profits" by keeping our standard features to a minimum.
I worked in Europe in the 90's. I'm done arguing this with you

I was making my points to Larry and trying to tell him that he's made a wise choice. You jumped out of nowhere and criticized my comments. After I corrected you more than a couple of times, you have the audacity to tell me that you are done arguing with me?
Have I ever said cars here are more expensive in the U.S.? What minimum standard feature are you trying to point out for cars here? Is there ever a U.S. CL or S class that did not come with navigation like some of the European ones did?
So what's the point you're trying to accomplish here? Stop bickering with me and just let the guy feel better for being able to keep his car.

I never said gas wasn't expensive in Europe to begin with. I used the phrase "my friend" to point out that he was mis-construing my sentences and making them into a completely different meaning that I did not intend to use.
If there's something that he doesn't like about what I said, let him respond with his reasons. There's no need to get too excited on your behalf.

Jon, Rob, and Carl,
I understand where all you guys are coming from. Just a bit of miscommunication IMO. No big deal

. No worries for me, however someone else may get offended when " a little good natured ribbing" occurs to someone you don't know. Many of us on the forum have become friends over time so if it came from one of them it is assumed a joke. When it comes from someone new, it can be taken the wrong way as there are a lot of haters (a-holes) out there. Just my opinion.Larry
. Actually disregard what I said. Just be yourself. I was just saying what I thought might turn some people off but I'll assume you probably are smart enough to know these things. No big deal. Take care.Larry
