2003 CL55 - This Saturday
Well, my '03 CL55 is in. Only took a month and a half from time of order and MSRP ! 
.... Picking it up Saturday. Now I need to find someone that wants to but my 2001 CL55 (18,000 miles, Perfect condition - As New)....
Need to find someone with stock on 18" or 19" AMG Dual Spoke rims now. The 5 spokers aren't really that nice.
Look for updates this weekend.

A month and a half??? I placed my order almost 2 years ago and I still havent recieved mine yet!! Which dealer? How did that work out for u? Let me know ..........in the meantime, enjoy the car!!

If you know where to look you can find CL55's glaore. Even at MSRP ... Same dealer had an SL55 the other day at 10,000 over window. Not MSRP, but still a far cry from what others are asking.
I don't think I can get my dealer to push delivery off until 2003. You see, the dealer gets allocation based on sales. If they don't sell this unit in 2002, they lose 1 AMG allocation for 2003. The dealer has been very good to my family and I understand his posisition. I have another CL55 on order from him for a April delivery that is for my father. My father always liked my CL and he couldn't pass up the 493hp engine...

Couple of things....
1. I took delivery of my ca 10 days ago after placing my order in May of 2001!
2. Mark Motors in Arlington Heights Illinois did 2 things for me....Took $1000.00 of window!!!! and made out the paper to show delivery after Jamn. 1 in order that I saved the Luxury tax.
3. The dealer said that I could swap the rims that came with the car for the twin spoke wheels however the twin spoke wheels are on all the other models i.e. CL500 S series and E seruies cars. I'l keep the wheelsas none of the others come lwith the AMG styled kwheels.
4. Have 350 miles on and will observe the factory reccomended "break-in" period. Why take a chance on a $121000 investment.
5. More power than a speeding locomotive and can hardly wait to hit the 1000 mile mark.

Smurph, I will ask my dealer about the paper work trick. I don't know if this will mess up their allocation points or not though. Af far as the wheels, the CL500 doesn't come with the 18" AMG Twin Spokes. Only the CL55, S55 and the upcoming E55 are supposed to come with them. I have seen a few S55's with them, however, it seems all the first production CL55's have the AMG 5 Thin 5 Spoke wheels that look exactly like the AMG wheels that were used on the ML55's, only larger.
I really like the AMG twin spoke and will more than likely eventually swap them to those when they are available.

I'm not sure if I understand what awiner said correctly but here is what my brother in law went through to get his cl55 - he got in line for one last year (A month or so before the sl500 was released. He was thinking of getting that one first, but decided to wait for the cl55). About a month ago or a bit more he was contacted by the dealer to place the actual order on the car and its options. He then had to wait for the car to be built and shipped over here and then he finally got it from the dealership. Another way that you can find a car in your area is if your dealer is a major distributor of top end benzes. For example; Ray Catena (in NJ) had a CL55 for sale about 3 weeks ago. I don't know about now, but a week or two ago they had a 55 and a 600 for sale.

What I was saying is that there are more than a few dealers, at least around me, that are getting CL55's every month. Some are getting 2-3 month ! Some are not sold yet so you can very well walk in and get one that is comming down the line in 1-2 months. Sometimes they even have AMG's on the lot that are not sold yet. The dealer I deal with sells at MSRP (A nice change from most dealers here in So. Cal).
