Talking Tire pressure sensors aftermarket?

Hi all.

Has anyone bought the in-wheel sensors from other than benz? If so, where and what was the price? I've just had two replaced, and the controller and 2weeks later, I can see that the front left is gone ( when it works, it shows between 25 and 37 psi and then after about 30 mins, apparently goes lower causing the system to show a flat), even though I supposedly have 25 months of battery left!!

Beyond finding a less expensive alternative, I'm hoping the aftermarket can provide something more reliable than the oem pieces. I have an 03 cl55 with the 315 mhz north american sensors.

Thanks

TireRack use to have the sensors. Call 877-522-8473 Ext. 362 (Luke). Luke is part of this forum and he should be able to help you. Good Luck.

I recommend staying with OEM Tire Pressure Sensors. You probably just got a sensor (or sensors) that were bad right out of the box.

They will all be OEM, no matter where you buy them. If you take a Beru sensor for instance, Mercedes or Tirerack or any other supplier will only have one made by Beru that works in your car. These parts are specialized enough (and covered by enough patents) that they're not worth it for other manufacturers to clone.

You can see the Tirerack price on line. Order a wheel for your car, add the TPMS sensor to the order and subtract the wheel. This is how you can purchase sensors from them without calling anyone.

When one dies, chances are they will all need replacement soon.

Supposedly, the next generation will generate their own power from wheel spin, which will be great because the battery is the weak link now.

Had this exact thing happen to me. One died, then another like a month later. While I at MB getting the second dead one replaced I just had them do all remaining sensors while they were at it. This was about 3.5 years after the car was mfg.

Thanks all!

I like the tire rack suggestion. I think I'll replace the both that are left. Saves frustration.
