20" snows
20” Snow Tires
For anyone looking for 20” snow tires I can recommend Nokian 255-35ZR-20-WRG2. Here in Baastan where the winter is miserable and we've had several snow and ice storms the tire performance is excellent.
I now have had the CL63 for 18 months and at 15000 miles can report absolutely no problems except that I have developed a very strong emotional tie to the car. Renntech ecu.
LOVING IT.

Tell me what the Renntech ECU did for you - I could use a little mid-winter break. Does it do anything at lower rpm's?

Renntech ecu
Renntech claims:
CL63 AMG Stock - 507 hp @ 6800 rpm; 465 lb-ft @ 5200 rpm
RENNtech ECU upgrade ………………………………. .$3495
part No. 542160020
HP gain 33 hp TOTAL HP 540 @ 6800 rpm
TQ gain 30 lb-ft TOTAL TQ 495 @ 5200 rpm
George at Renntech says that these numbers are conservative and I agree.
There is a very noticble power increase starting 2-2.5K and very linear after that. It is really nice in M mode where it's totally ***** to the wall. Both C and S are now very similar but in C the launch is still very smooth and in this nasty climate that is a good thing.
I don't drive >100mph so I can't comment about performance in that speed range.
My dealer arranged the shipping to Renntech and back. The installation was no probelm and I have never had an issue, warning light, or anything like that.
It's a small investment for a big increase in performance.

ieb, great to hear you're enjoying your CL even in Bos Winter![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Was recently in Manhattan; was driven around in S550 4Matic....astonishing how poorly composed is its ride and body control (POS Airmatic chassis and girlie tires/wheels/brakes) even at <60MPH
Suspect 600/63/65 w/proper winter tires are far safer than any 4Matic in emergent braking/handling, even on sloppy Winter roads, let alone the more typical dry, cold NYC or Chicago Winter roads
Anecdotally, CL reliability seems arguably best in world today....my 63 030 was flawless in 16K+ mis, as is my 65 in some 3K mis to-date....and hear similar stuff from numerous colleagues who've owned several new CL63 and 65s to-date...a truly addictive, daily-enjoyable car for many jaded car nuts

Hi WSH, good to hear from you.
I suspect that the problem is not the 4Matic but the tires. Tires are probably Continentals that turn out to be not very good in winter driving conditions. The Continentals that came with my car started to slip even on dry roads at 8000 miles.
The Nokins have superior grip are same noise level and ride comfort so I think that I'll use them all year.
BTW hows the 65 sound compared to the 63?
