Well, I ended up driving the M5 again and re-thinking my decision. While the CL55 is an UNBELIEVABLE car, I realized that I still favor the sport side of the luxury sport equation.
Driving both cars back to back was very illuminating. The control responses of the M5, while still not as direct as on my Corvettes, still offer much more feedback than the luxury oriented CL. As much of my daily commute includes twisty hill country roads, this was important.
I also have trouble with the fact that the E55 will be out soon with all the same hardware for over $40,000 less.
So the CL is on the back burner this time around. I may reconsider next year....and will be strongly considering the E55.
