hallo, i have a cl500 w215 02 model pre facelift, that is stuck in P, is there anyone who can tell me a step be step guide on how to disaasemble the center console so i can get to the shifter box and remove the broken plastic piece that is causing the problem???
If anyone has a step by step guide on the whole procedure it would be great!!
Any help is appreciated!, does anyone know if i hammer the top of the gear lever in order to get it out of P temporary will i still be able to just remove the plastic piece to make the fix, or will i brake the whole thing if i hammer it out of P????
I have read a lot on the subject but find it hard to find exactly the info i need on my w215 model, also im confused if i need to go under the car to detacha cable from the ignition???
Anyone here who has completed this entire procedure on a w215???

Hey Tommy,
That happened to me a few years ago on my 2001 CL500.
You can twist the chrome ring under the shift knob, which will then slide down and the knob will come off. The base plate can be lifted up and comes off after you disconnect the electrics - that's how far I got.
However, this didn't help as Mercedes determined that some electronics had failed and I had to get the car towed and the part replaced. The computer will block the shifter in P to prevent damage.
$600 parts + $300 labor
works fine ever since.

...so, I wouldn't try forcing it out of P...on my car, it would get stuck sporadically and release before I finally had to get it towed - good luck
