Thanks. The steering wheel was aftermarket that i had added when i bought the car 10 years ago. It was about $700. However, the steering wheel and all of the other wood trim was in brown burlewood, which looked good but ultimately dated the car. So a couple of years ago i had all of the wood trim pieces in the entire car (including the steering wheel, front and back center consoles and door trim) done in a black carbon fiber wrap. It was a very good job and in my humble opinion looked as good as real carbon fiber (other than a fine joint line on the back of the steering wheel where the wrap piece joined itself—which no one could notice unless you were looking for it through the windshield). The entire wrap job cost me $500 and IMHO significantly updated the look of the car from the burlewood.
However, if you are more pure than i was, there are actual carbon fiber replacements available for all of the wood trim on eBay but it is about $5000 and i thought the wrap was good enough.
I think the black carbon fiber wrap really made my lighter stone interior pop (it actually looks better than the picture because you really cannot make out the carbon fiber elements in the picture). I have also seen someone who did a red/black carbon fiber wrap with a black interior and i thought it looked great. So the benefit of carbon fiber wrap is you can get different colors to really make your particular interior pop and it also brings the interior current with the carbon fiber look rather than burlewood.

I fell in love with Mercedes Benz cars since I bought one for my first car when I was 15 years old. I have tried just about every other European automobile; Audi, BMW, Saab, Volvo, Porsche and even a Ferrari. It wasn't a super sexy Ferrari, it was a 456 GTA and even came with luggage that matched the interior leather seats. Regardless, not a single one of them was what I wanted, a Mercedes Benz AMG. And since I fell in love with the pillarless look of the CLK 550, the only car for me is this CL 55 AMG.
I haven't had time yet to do the little modifications I want to do, but I want to get rid of the speed limiter and change out the pulley on the supercharger to add about 80 to 100 bhp. Hopefully, then I'll be happy. (Now all I have to do is find the envelope that I stuck $8000 in my office. Oh, don't worry it's a home office so it's hanging around here someplace, LOL!)
No matter what I may end up buying in the future and the AMG GT looks like a winner to me, regardless, I will keep this CL 55 AMG until I can't drive any more and then I will have someone else drive me, perhaps one of my grandsons? LOL!
Anyway, happy motoring to you all!
I still love that pillarless look. There's just something elegant about it. What the American muscle car gearheads see before I pass them, while they scratch their heads, LOL! Hard to believe this car is 16 years old!
A pristine supercharger to tinker with, perfect!

Reason: changing photos
Well I bought one of my dream cars a couple days ago, drove it 1000 miles home. sorry for dirty pictures was excited. 90k miles, private seller, no accidents, originally from Hawaii. (dont mind the tag holder needed something to hold the paper tag)
Skizz: Admittedly, I’m very happy with the car......I’m just looking to add an e55 for daily driving duties.......that 211 in your sig looks perfect.
It was a 2009 E63. And it was the perfect 211 imho. Selling was the worst car mistake I ever made. Last year for the 211, P30 package, 50k miles, tons of tasteful oem mods, tubes, tune, high end audio system........man, I must have been out of my mind for selling it.
I`ve had this for nearly 6 years now so its about time I put up a photo! My old M5 in the background. Should`ve kept it as its now worth about double what I sold it for :-(
Mr Williams I love that last picture! I have yet to find a place to do this safely.
So many great varieties and good looking cl55’s!
Finding space can be a challenge, but you only need about 3-4 miles of straight uncluttered road if you’re already at around 70mph, to safely get up around 180+ & you can just let the car slow down on it’s own if u have the space or downshift if you don’t, I’d also suggest a 4am road time to avoid traffic and do a couple of proper speed drive by’s beforehand or bring a friend in another car as a lookout.
