C vs S

I recently traded my Majestic Black 2008 CL63 for a Diamond White 2010 CL63. I'm very pleased with the new car and plan to keep it until the current W216 body style is completely re-done. Unlike my previous CL63, which would always keep its transmission setting on "S", the new one insists on starting out in "C" mode. The manual states that the transmission will stay in whatever mode it was left on, but at each start-up, it reverts back to "C". This is very annoying, as the "comfort" setting starts out in 2nd gear and is too comfortable for my taste. Does anyone know if this is just an annoyance I'll have to put up with during the 1000-mile break-in period, or will it be a perpetual annoyance? If it can be set to start and stay in "S" mode, please tell me how. Thanks.

I couldn't figure that out either. Mine holds, then not holds, and I cannot figure out what the difference is.
I just reset it before I start the car. Key to "on" position, set tranny function to M )I like to control shift points and engine brake), then I'm off. I notice the change by how many times I have to click through to find Manual mode.
