2003 CL 55
Opinions welcome about a 2003 CL 55 that I looked at today.

Its a 2003 CL 55 with 56,000 miles on it , but the body was partially painted and the paint does not look ok to me, it was not a quality paint job , it also has the right side headlights yellowish , and some of the outer rubber mouldings around the cars doors and windows need to be replaced. When I opened the door the window hits the moulding for a second and then lowers . How much can i pay for this car for it to be a good deal ? The guy was asking 25,000 but , I have at 18,000 at this momment , any suggestions are welcome.. By the way if I decide to go thru with the sale , the yellowish lens on the working headlight can I just replace the lens since the headlight works fine , or will I have to replace the entire headlight? Thanks.

The surface is all you see and is not so bright. Just think of the potential problems that you don't see. Don't by a CL if you are on a budget. It will not turn out to be a good deal or inexpensive ownership experience in the long run

In short - run away from the car.

The rubber and the headlights are easy fix or you can just replace it with newer ones.
These are the least of your concerns about the car. You will want to find out if the ABC (Anti Body Control) the Hydraulic suspension on the car is good or if it is going bad on that car. To replace these are very expensive and you will not like it, if you plan to stay on a budget. Cost on replacing per strut more or less $1300-$1600. I manage to find a Mercedes tech that does work on the side and can get parts from the dealer that quoted me $700 installed per strut. That is the cheapest I have found.

I have an 03 myself and since having the car I have replaced the intercooler pump which is common to go bad,... that is not as expensive. Cost to replace $90 for the pump and $50-$60 labor. I would suggest replacing this either way to help with the performance of the car.
Next I heard some rattling sound in the engine, and it turned out that the super charger pulley bearings was coming out. (Had that replaced asap)You don't want the super charger to break on you.... $$$$ for you wallet.

When looking into buying these type of cars. Make sure to do plenty of homework on the car and the car that your are planning to look at.
Make sure to prepare some maintenance funds just in case you will need to fix things.
Cosmetics you can always work on anytime, make sure the car is running well first before you want to make it look good.
