85+

it was such a penalty[not] to be banished from this site. for advocating reasonable speed limits.

in the wide open spaces.

i thought of the shmoderator who banished me as i ran the empty back roads of central texas in my porsche cayenne turbo at speeds close to 100mph this last weekend.

the real "sport" utility vehicle. that even corvettes fear to keep up with.

some thought that porsche was a traitor to tradition to have produced such a vehicle. i say, porsche saw a market target and seized it. and that seizure kept porsche alive.

and benz produces nothing competitive in that category.

originally, i was going to make my back road journey from houston to new braunfels, austin, then back again via louie mueller's que joint in taylor and us79, in my cl55.

but at the last moment, i decided to run the 2008 cayenne. since i had acquired it last year with virtually zero miles for my desert southwest road trip, which i had to cancel because of unanticipated illness, i thought it would be educational to learn how it ran in the real world's twisty bits.

at rally speeds.

what a wonderful vehicle. one of its best features is astounding brakes.

85+ as often as possible.

savvy?

good. you weren't here some weeks ago when i advocated raising speed limits in west texas and was banished for this unruly pov. by someone who arrogated to himself the role of moderator.

as i interpret his censorship, to advocate the elevation of speed limits on this board would discredit the responsible attitude of this board.

thinking about that censorious attitude, i am still barfing.

Wrong forum. Wrong approach. Dangerous proposition revealing cluelessness about vehicle capabilities.

At 85 forget the fuel economy- the biggest problem is that your vehicle is our of control. Very few are. And a cayenne is definitely not. Turbo or not.

A higher speed limit makes sense only if we know how to drive. Which majority of americans do not. Would you like German- like speed limits? Sure. Only after passing a German driving test. Have any idea how involving is to get a driver license in Germany?

What you are suggesting is dangerous in our country. And I am all for high speeds mind you.
