well, Is multiple pieces for a wheel better than 1 piece? I noticed there are some 2 piece and some 3 piece wheels. Also, is lighter wheel better than heavy wheels? I assume lighter wheels need less power to get it going so it would mean faster acceleration, less gas usage and shorter stopping distance but it looks like forged wheels are ALOT more expensive, are they better overall or just stronger...? Sorry if i sound like a total idiot, im all new to this stuff...

How to tell?

Are they TUV tested?

are they made in Germany by Mb or by a MB subsidiary?
Do they have the correct offset without spacers?
does the consequent wheel/tire combination exceed the unsprung weight of the stock AMG wheel and tire setup?
will they interfere with the ESP and abc systems?
If they are not AMG brand, are they made by an aftermarket tuner like Kleemann or a no name?
Do they rub?

Save your money for maintenance.

I think these posts are trying to tell you that you get what you pay for- if the rims require spacers then they weren't designed for your CL and therefore will probably suck on that basis alone. If you want quality 20" rims you will probably have to pay a lot more than $695 for them..

well, i wanna get some new wheels for my car, something with nice shiny lip and black in the middle. I don't wanna go no bigger than 19" cuz of the bad road conditions, and i can't afford to spend no more than $1500, any recommendations?? or is this budget not in the realm of reality of getting a good quality wheel...???

No "real" wheels for CL55 will cost $1500 (or less). That does not include the tires. Remember CL55 is a heavy car and a load rating 97 and up should be considered (some goes with 95Y but side wall is too weak for low profile tires).

Anyway, I am in no mean disrespect but it sounds like you are on a budget. You should probably stay with the OEM (they are very nice wheels).

Going with bigger wheels also means that you will have to lower your car at some point (it is not a must but your car will look like a truck with bigger wheels if not lowered). Lower car means much faster tires wear (unless you get the proper camber kits) ... etc. ... you see where I am going? Next thing you know, your $1500 will turn into more than double easily.

Note that if you don't have warranty for this car, you should save that $1500 for repairs should it come up.

Having said that, I am willing to go homeless to treat the car nicely so I understand how you feel.

Welcome to MBW. Any pics of your car?

Mandrus Stuttgart ... around $3K a set (not including tires).

Watch out for used good brand name wheels in the sale section. You can get a nice set of DPE and/or HRE (wheels only) for around $2500 or less there. Good luck.
