pic of them off.... they are actually hard to see. They are that very thin white ring, that sits on the already white ring surrounding the projector.

Well I picked up the car yesterday, and am driving it home now - LOVE it.

Bryan - I definitely need the iPod kit you have. The car already has sat installed stock, which is nice. Video in motion might be nice - does that screen even look alright with videos playing? I'm gonna spend way too much on this car, ha.

The screen (LCD panel) used in the Mercedes is actually very high quality. I stream 720p to it and it looks GREAT!

However, the 05 CL is a Siemens head unit, and can't be separated from the amp. If one goes, they all go - so you would have to replace it all....again a ton of work for very little gain. MUCH easier to upgrade the current system with accessories...
I have thought about the same things as you, but lose too much car integrity and way to much work for not much gain.
Since the Siemens HU can't be separated from the amp, were you able to upgrade speakers or anything (like at a subwoofer) to improve sound quality in your CL? Thanks.

Honestly, I think the CL sound is EXCELLENT! I know everyone has a different opinion on these matters... but back in the day I considered myself an audiophile - although I have relaxed my **** tendencies over the years admittedly. My CL has incredible bass, and really good volume.... But that is specific to the 05 year. My best friend has an 03 that does not have near the sound system the 05 has. So we put in a signal processor and basstube in the trunk.

Is that your VIM? Looks neat. I'm thinking about getting it, after the ECU Tune next month.

Can I switch to back cam even in motion? I hate it when it only works in reverse mode on built-ins from car manufacturers.. I want it on when I want it on.

Yes it is.... switching to reverse cam while moving forward is just an installation issue. If you want it to do it, it is pretty easy to set up while installing. I have a forward facing camera because I have a CF lip on the car, and I have a FLiR that I have used during some night "rally" too. To say I have this car geeked out would be an understatement....

Nice - I suppose it's just the MB UI that looks chintzy then, all beveled and embossed, ha. Looking forward to running some video in.

Whole new world. This thing screams down the road.

Totally agree on this - the C class I always had to have the bass all the way up to get any good punch to the low end (I listen mostly to alternative rock). The CL I have the bass set at half, and it's VERY nice and full on the low end.

Interesting, I'm in my early 40's and don't need crazy bass anymore either.. but need some! Interesting you didn't even have to add an amp or upgrade the speakers..
Going to look at a CL65 tonight so I'll bring a CD to do a sound check.. that being said, it's probably the last thing I'm worried about when looking at a used CL65. Just covering all the bases before I buy. Thanks.

I can back that up as well - I was a touring professional musician for a couple years, so I have a keen ear for music.

That's great to know.. it would be nice to have a car I didn't immediately want to change the stereo in.
