Some preview pics for you guys. I never post pictures because it's never quite how I visualize the car in my dreams yet in reality. But here's some cool pics, the lighting sucked and I'm using the iPad 2 camera so take them for what it's worth. Btw, the feel of this shifter when gripping it....it encourages you to be fast and sporty. An amazing mod, and every girl that saw it today in my car got a little pregnant

Now the whole interior is gonna get a dramatic overhaul like the exterior . Sick dctm steering wheel about to be made

Wow..that is ultra cool!! So basically plug and play? No need to run a 12V hot wire to the illuminated red ring..I wonder where it is getting the power from?
Beautiful! Some high res pictures in daylight would be sweet and appreciated.

Yeah, nothing is needed to make the ring illuminate. I suppose the metal rod acts as a power source

Looks sick, if only there was a way to retrofit the suede boot into the picture.

Many thanks for the response. Does the red light only come on when you flip the top open? In your first picture it looks like it is illuminated even though the flip top is in the closed position? I am hoping that it is not always "on" and does not draw the battery down. I think on the SLR the red light is illuminated once you flip the top open?

Light "Off / Not Illuminated" (key in the off position or not in car):

I think this is so cool and innovative! Much kudos to you

Looks good! Wish they made a DTM-style wheel for our cars.

Mine illuminates when I unlock the car when I lock it, after a couple seconds it dims down.

1995E320Cab - I saw some of his on eBay. But I spoke to Ivan over at DCTMS and he is making me a custom DTM style wheel modeled a bit by the new AMG C Coupe:
SLR Shift Knob Retrofit-c58ba312.jpg
It's gonna have red leather on the flat bottom, perforated leather grips and the top will be carbon fiber with the red ring around it. With red stitching to compliment it. I'm also gonna be doing the carbon fiber paddle shift conversion. my car is all black with subtle custom red accents you'd never really imagine on a CL, but still looking like AMG could've produced it.
And with the interior I already have things done, but theres still so much. Leather roof (everyone has suede), AMG door pins, custom AMG peddles , will definitely get rid of the wood interior. Stuck between white carbon fiber or black (no 3M) White would pop and look so sick. Heres our interior but in silver carbon fiber:
SLR Shift Knob Retrofit-73e05801.jpg
SLR Shift Knob Retrofit-79b65dee.jpg
All JL Audio HD Sub, amp. Night vision is about to be ordered. Carbon fiber door handles etc.. Lots of little stuff that adds up.

OCKlasse - They do have a DTM inspired wheel:
http://www.dctms.com/product_ST_Mercedes_W220.html

iAMGod - Yeah, making a custom boot would be could, but that's all simple now. Just glad it works perfectly. Very happy with the upgrade
But the coolest part is the feel of it. I have driven many Mercs, BMWs, Rolls Corniche, Ferrari 360, 430, Hummer H1, Bentley Continental, cool cars. This is by far the coolest shifter out there. It really feels like what a $500,000 knob should feel like. A found a brand new love for it, such a quality difference.

Sh*t!!! I'm torn as I bought/installed SICK Carbon Fiber knob, completely covered front/rear in CF, w/shiny polished Start/Stop button. I'm stoked you got the SLR knob to fit & fully work

I love the red back lighting, esp that it's seen even whn buttons closed as the knob is kinda boring being ALL frosty silver etc... I may just snap & buy the SLR knob now.. It's still cooler than Carbon Fiber, w/trick jet fighter flip switch.... Decisions, decisions..I just wish I could combine the 2 knobs, ie Carbon Fiber shell frm mine & add internals w/flip top damn! that'd be awesummm
Here's my new 1..

Yeah, Im sure the all carbon fiber knob you have is cool and all, it's not SLR cool :p
I'd say get it, you won't be disappointed. It's the best shifter Mercedes has ever put into their car by far.
But because I do know carbon fiber is cool, I'm about to get the SLR knob done in carbon fiber but in white or black is the question.....

Done deal, I'm buying it & having it wrapped to match what I have in pix... Then sell the old/newknob...lol it NEVER STOPS!!! Mod Mania... Thanks for sharing pix & going where NO non SLR knob has gone before Though I'm kinda scared sending off brand new $2k knob to get wrapped in CF & resin.. Sheesh anything could happen to the electronic bits...Argh...

I think I may put a red led inside my stock knob keyless go and check for a nice rim glow. If it works out well, I will post a mod for everyone. It won't have the flip up, but will still have the cool glow.

How do you like the suede/alcantara on the steering wheel? Imagine it's nice, but does it get dirty easy? Ivan from DCTMS told me suede on the wheel is cool, but it has about a 2 year lifespan. So that's the only thing holding me back

Why? & Who? Are you putting down for absolutely NO reason? We're just modding our cars to our own individual tastes. Why the Civic driver, just another dreamer drivel?? We are enjoying the modding process please ditch the unwarranted negative input thanks

Excuse me sir the cl that is in question with the Slr shifter belongs to a very good friend of mine who I see on a daily basis....just making jokes since we're both in our early 20's and you see younger ppl around us drive clunkers(honda,Nissan) not AMG's......not being negative to anyone else or bashing anybody for there modd style
