Hey guys i have an opportunity to purchase a W215 2001 cl63 with 42K miles ... I know that its a very rare car and want your opinions if its a good idea or not.. obviously doesn't have any warranty and being a very rare car i am concern about reliability ... Many thanks in advance

I think it depends on the price. That car is super rare. But I don't think I would say it's collectible, at least not yet and not the way that, say, the right 1950s or 1960s Mercedes is (i.e. potential 6 figure price tag). Performance wise, you're better getting a '03 or newer 55 or 600. So you have to be specifically wanting something very rare and with a certain amount of history.

I guess I am the only one who didnt even know that there was in fact a 2001 CL63 ?? How did that 63 engine come about ? Is it an M113 bored to 6.3L, is it a transplant ? Brabus version ? The N/A 113 6.3 wasnt available from MB in the US till 2007 right ?

I would so buy that car depending on the price of course. What's the asking price for a car like that anyway? Any pictures of it? Very curious of the interior because I hear they came with the optional granite trim. I have yet to see that in an MB.

It was very rare. Special order and produced for the Euro and Japanese markets only if I remember correctly.
