W215 LED Fog/Daytime Running Lights
Unfortunately, these days if your car doesn't have LEDs, it looks older. Kia's have them... Not comparing, but it's definitely where automotive lighting is going. Now I have yet to see someone install LED DRLs on a W215 CL. Thing is, I hate aftermarket LED running lights. Even on Benzes, 99% of them, they just look like they don't neccessarily belong on there if they didn't come from the factory. Only some companies, Brabus and so, make LEDs that actually look stock worthy. So if I did it, I'd want the legit OEM Mercedes LED running lights. They just look better, they way they light up, the plastic housings they're in, etc...
So what I'm about to do is order the DRLs from an '11 W221 S Class.
They're about 12" in length without the chrome attachments. I would not get them with the chrome, just the LEDs. I believe they should fit all the way at the top of the fog light opening area on the CL seeing as that is the longest opening point at about a foot or so.
I would make them sit like the S63 DRLs:
Just have them on top basically lined with the bumper. Beauty of the S Class DRLs is that there is an overlapping piece at the end, so that could potentially used to overlap onto the bumper and be drilled through the back
I have a custom mesh guy. He told me to buy the OEM CL center mesh and that piece should be big enough to customize new mesh pieces for the LED/fog opening. I would definitely remove the original fogs (hate the fog with the LED look )
So providing I get a great figment and it looks brilliant, should everything work though? Meaning, when I plug the OEM LEDs to the fog wire, should it work the same way? You think I'll get a malfunction code switching the lights?
Thanks guys, any input is appreciated. I wanna get this done and make it look right

Hey, that looks pretty cool. I've never seen DRLs on a W215. Well done my friend. Any pics with the LEDs on? Did they throw any malfunction lights? Also, what LEDs did you use? I have the AMG front bumper and I believe I have even more of an opening where the fogs are on my bumper. Kudos for making it work
