Say hello to my little friend.........

UPDATE: Well I took the car to my indy mechanic friend that knows these cars well he hooked the car up to stars sds and the ic pump is working fine and the car doesn't have any codes at all. He took it out and said it feels like a strong running cl65. He just finished doing coil packs on a 04 cl600 earlier that day and he said that the cl65 would wipe the floor with it and that its way more powerful. I don't know, I still think its a slug it doesn't feel fast like everyone raves about it. Keep in mind I also have the speedriven ecu/tcu tune.

Thanks! The only thing my car didn't come with is the amg instrument cluster. I've seen a few other cl65s that didn't come with it either. I wonder why they did this did they intend it to be a non amg at first?
#29
Please PM your VIN number I want to look this up and see what instrument cluster part number was used during the factory build...

Yes I have the 160 speedo and it doesn't say bosch and doesn't say v12biturbo AMG. Its very weird but I've seen at least 3 cl65s that are like this. I wonder if it was a build error or they ran out of amg clusters or if it was intended to be a non amg car at first.
I sent you a pm with my vin thanks!
Edit: looks like you already got my pm. Thanks for checking it out.

Post some pics from under the hood, I'd hate to think it is a dressed up cl600 and it was sold as a 65. Interior swap and a carbon fiber engine cover. I don't doubt you did your homework before buying the car, but you never know how hard people try and cover things up. I'm sure detective Oxygen will get you answers. It could be simply that the speedo was shot and replacing it with a 500 or 600 speedo is in more abundance and easier to obtain. Also consider getting it on a dyno to see if its making the power it should.

I did a comparison to this car and everything lines up, even the part numbers for the cluster. ****ing weird.
This is the car on the right data card, if you look, has the AMG cluster:

Your tanzanite blue CL65 is the datacard on the left.

You need to log the IAT's etc.

Great looking car and a great colour. I have not heard of Capri Blue before.
I have a 2003 55 and mine is Tanzanite Blue with Alpaca Grey interior, which is what i thought yours was in the the photo's. Mine looks very similar and as most of the CL's are either Black or Silver,Blue is very rare. It took eighteen months to find my car as i didn't want Black or Silver.

If you take a look at the CL65 AMG brochure, it specifically mentions that the car comes with an exclusive AMG cluster.
http://www.ragtop.org/mbbrochures/2004/int-cl65-amg.pdf
"And, of course, the interior includes some discreet clues as to the immense power and performance that typify the CL 65 AMG, such as the AMG instrument cluster with a 360 km/h speedometer dial and the ergonomically designed AMG sports steering wheel with gearshift paddles."

Glad to hear its legit, I wonder why the speedo is different. Does the service history show it being replaced? Hard to understand how it could get out the door at amg like that. As far as the i/c pump I replaced mine with the johnson cm-30, but if I were to do it again I would consider the mezimere, it just seems a bit beefier. Get the car on the dyno to see what its making for power, and check your IAT's. I hope your car is truly not slow and its just too smooth to feel fast to you. Line up against another 11.6 second car and you will only hear their car(exhaust) and truly think you will lose until you actually pull away. If you don't then its time to figure out whats wrong with your car. Good luck. Nice to see the M275 Professor, Oxygen to the rescue!!! I hope to make it out to Long Island and meet up with you one day, for a 400 level course on V12s.

Thanks for the compliments! Once I saw the color I just had to have it. The previous owner took very good care of it interior and exterior wise but there was hardly any maintenance done outside of brakes and fluid changes/flushes. It just never needed anything while he had it. So I know I'll have to do some abc stuff and coil packs in the future maybe motor/trans mounts too. But that's ok I'm fine with it I'm more happy with the color combo and that this car looks like it has 5k miles on it inside and out.
So in regards to the ic pump, I changed it today to the johnson cm30 pump. I figured the stock one had 53k miles on it so no use trying to see if the stock one is working its better to just replace it with a brand new pump. Marcin and Alex at Speedriven were very helpful. I've heard bad things about the johnson pump dying so if and when it does I'll switch to the meziere. Hopefully that's not any time soon.

You are correct its Tanzanite blue. I had a few people tell me that its capri blue but when Oxygen pulled the records it shows that its tanzanite with alpaca gray interior. We both have the exact same color combo. I also didn't want black or silver and it took me about 2 years to find it.
I friend has a 65 and i know the V12 compared to the V8 is a totally different car. I'm very happy with the 55.
I've had it remapped and DE-Limited and added a few option . 65 AMG Two Piece 1V wheels + Alcantara Roof and Pillars Rear Shelf,Illuminated Door Sills,Secondary Cats removed and Sports exhaust etc,so it's the Great Colour and it runs great.
Enjoy your 65,you have so many in the States to choose from.
