Funky smell in the cockpit from the Engine

I noticed that every time I slam on the pedal and take off, there's this strange smell that comes into the cockpit from the engine. Does anybody know what it is or have the same problem? If so please let me know what it might be, just curious. Again, this only happens when I floor it.

Is it coming out your HVAC vents? Maybe your filters need changing?

Yeah it's coming from the vents, it's weird because I only smell it whenever I floor my car but other then that I don't smell it at all. I should probably check the filters out. Thanks

The a/f on the force fed Mercedeses is always rich to be on the safe side. This combined with slightly dirty injectors might result in unburnt fuel ending up in the cats and the resulting smell.

A chevron Techron fuel treatment and some spirited driving might clear the issue for some time.

ya my car smells like that also.. it is the connection from the turbo to the downpipes. there is a v-band clamp and that leaks a bit.. and it smells really bad when i enter the freeway a bit fast... so once i got my catless downpipes it doesnt smell anymore becuase we used better vband clamps

Your smell is pre- cat and is because the steering shaft rubber boot in the firewall might be failing. This allows exhaust from the turbos to enter cockpit. Is your steering squeak also when turning the steering wheel? That sometimes is a tell tale of the boot failing.

What we talk here is the after cat rotten egg smell when unspent fuel ignites in the cats.

I have the same issue on my N/A 550. When I step on it hard I get similarly described smell in the cabin. Rich tune?

Dqnt know about the n/a motor, but Most likely.

Dirty air filters is also very common on n/a motors to cause rich condition.

If you have das the car can be leaned out a bit in about 5 minutes on the force fed r230s. Again- not sure on your car though.
