'00-'02 CL55 and '00-'02 CL 600 Differences?

Other than the obvious engine differences, what else is different between the two cars?

I'm considering getting a CL 55 or a CL 600. I've noticed that CL 600s can be had for nearly the same price as a comparable CL 500. What gives? What would be the better purchase, and why?

2003 CL55 AMG
There was never a CL55 for 2000. 2001 and 2002 CL55's had the normally aspirated 5.4 liter 354 horsepower engine.

The 2001-2002 CL55 differs from the 2001-2002 CL600 with AMG Exhaust, AMG Door Sills, AMG Instrument Cluster.

The 2001-2002 CL600 can be ordered with the sport kit which will include the same body pieces and rims/tires if that option is selected.

The CL600 comes with the phone as standard eqiup. where as it is an option on the CL55.

The CL600 has some additional wood pieces in the interior as well as an alcantara headliner.

The CL55 holds its value better than the 600. For 2001-2002 I would choose the 55 over the 600 as I beleive you get a better package.

I have a 2001 CL55 for sale if your interested contact me.

Adam,

Thanks for the information. Please PM me details about your CL 55. Ideally, I'm looking for a black car .

Anyway, I was also curious about the brakes. What's the difference b/w the 55 and the 600? What about the seats? Are there AMG sport seats or anything of that nature?

For 2001-2002 the brakes are the same on the 55 and 600. The seats are the same as well. AMG didn't start using their 'AMG' sport seats until and big football size brakes until the 2003 model year.

The 600 also has a wood sterring wheel which is not available on the 55, and about 80 ft/lbs more torque in the 2003 model.

highly suggest adam's CL55. He uses top notch cleaning supplies (leatherique on his leather, zaino on the paint) and really keeps his cars in mint condition. If I was looking for a CL55 (wish i was) I would buy his in a heartbeat!

Correct, however Amir is asking about the 2001-2002 models. In which case a wood steering wheel was standard on both.
