Just got rear ended ):

My car got rear ended a couple days ago. A lady ran into the car behind me and pushed it into mine during traffic. I had the most damage out of all three cars. Car will be in the shop for a month, pretty sad that I won't be able to drive it):

Here are some pictures I took on my iPhone. Doesn't look too bad in pictures but in person it is. Trunk won't even close cause its cracked, was surprised to find out that our trunks are made out of fiberglass. Body shop says it won't be salvaged so Im glad to hear that.

The body shop gave me a rough estimate of 9000. I know the trunk it self is 1900 without paint and all the trim and the rear bumper is 1400. Both tail lights have to be replaced. The left one doesn't look damaged but its cracked at the very tip so might *** well get that replaced too. I know it will bother me later on if I didn't. Im not paying a single dollar out of this so its ok I guess but still it sucks):

if you recently bought this car for under 40k i say you find a good body shop and have them find frame damage and total the car so insurance will pay you 35-40k, that would be the best way to get your money back.. sorry for the odd opinion but if i found a way to get all my cash back i would jump on it, i was rear ended 6 months ago and got $1900 from the guy who rear ended me...

Thanks for the info but my car isn't worth 30-40, I actually bought it a year ago for 15k. Im a college student and I love this car. Having my uncle repair the car and he said he'll help me out with some $$ so Im ok with that I was considering just making it a total loss but I just can't let the car go. Maybe when I get it fixed then Ill probably see what I can do with the money Ill be getting.

Let it go.....let it go. When the ABC fails, you will be so glad you had it totalled. This is not a car for a college student. Take this as a message that you were given a second chance to get out from under the car.

Sure, you got a great deal; however, the car is a $100K car with the maintenance costs of a $200,000 car. The combination is very bad if you don't have a boat load of money for maintenance and repairs.

I agree. Hope for a write off. Based on what you paid for it, hopefully it will be close. Take the money and buy yourself a Honda Civic and enjoy the savings on gas and insurance; unless of course your parents pay for everything. Then it doesn't matter.

I have actually owned the car for a year now, sure gas is a pain but I love it. There is no way Im going to let this car go and settle for a civic. At the time my car was valued at 22k with 113,000 miles on it, I know I got it for a good price so why let it go. Like I said, when everything is done with and my car gets out of the shop then I will see from there but for now she's a keeper haha. I haven't got to the point where I want my car to be so when I do then I will probably sell it. Thanks everyone for the info tho.

more power to you, if you love this car theres no reason for selling it and buying a cheaper car... i am 25 and i have had my CL65 for over 1 year now and i love this car.. cl55 engine is allot cheaper to fix, becuase you dont have the comman v12 misfiring coils that cost atleast $1300 each and all the issue the turbos would give you... but like everyone said that suspension problem is costly.. but in the end if your car is worth 22-25k ( blue book) and u paid 15k you will profit 7-10k and thats not a bad deal... just go buy another cl55 that isnt crashed and get rear ended again and collect another 10k profit lol im weird.. cars are one of the worst investments, if i can profit 10k i will go to my car with a hammer and just go crazy..
i feel like i am the best customer at my local gas station with my CL65, i average around $3-400 month in fuel. i use to have a G500 and that was the worst gas mileage car ever!!!!! my bank shut my debit card because they thought there was fraudulent activities because of how much fuel i was using

if you end up having spare parts sell me your third brake light on the center of the trunk, mine has a crack in it

I would have helped you out but unfortunately mine is cracked too): I will post what I have left from the wreck. For sure both tail lights are getting replaced, trunk, rear bumper and all the trim that comes with it.

LOL. If they loved you with $300-$400 a month, they'd love me. I average around $500 monthly for my stage 3 CL55.
And telling the guy to get a Honda Civic after owning a CL55, that's insulting. Yeah, he's young with this car. But I was one month into my 21st birthday when I got my first CL55. That one got totaled last March and now I'm onto my second one and came back stronger than ever. I'm sure he knows what these cars are capable of reliability wise.
Good luck bro, it would have costed $26K to repair everything with paint and labor when I got cut off and crashed my first CL55. With full coverage, of course that was too much money and work and it would never run the same, so naturally my insurance company totaled it out and wrote me a check. It was sad, but the most amazing thing was that none of my mods were damaged in the slightest (except for one of my smoked side markers), which to me was a sign to get another one and make it better than the last! So I did and it took me nearly 3 months to find another low mileage, newer, black CL55 with all the options I wanted (Distronic, push/start, parking sensors, heated/ventilated, heated steering wheel, Pulse seats) with service records and drove to New York to check out the AMG from a private seller (I live in Pennsylvania). Keep your head up, hope you get everything resolved professionally and quickly

ouch man, that sucks... ive been rear ended numerous times (all while being fully stopped!), so i know what a pain it is to deal with.... as im sure everyone will tell you, make sure you go through with full xrays, mri, and medical exams, because its something you have to live with the rest of your life. the first time it happened to me, i thought it was no big deal, i felt fine for months... but years later, the discomfort and pain grows and gets worse as you get older.

For me I hate having cars with an accident history. Sure if you plan to keep it and drive it into the ground then its not an issue. But 99.9% of the time that never happens and the car ends up getting resold and an accident history hurts resale value. I would try to get insurance to salvage it and cash you out, then I would buy it back and part it out bank all the money and look for something else.

OP is a $30k millionaire and should drop the CL. You can't afford it, you just don't know it yet.
