It's silver on black. 03 with 16 thousand miles. 27 grand is right at kbb excellent private party.
What would you pay for it?
What should I pay for it?
Any and all thoughts are appreciated.
Also, do you think it's bad for an 03 to have so few miles. A friend suggested he would rather purchase a car that has driven more regularly because things just fail from sitting around.

The seller can ask what ever he/she feel it worth but it ain't going to sell at that price. I did a search on Auto Trader within 500 miles and the list came out with prices from $19K to $36K for 2003-2005 CL55.

Dealer probably offered $15K on trade. I wouldn't go over $24K on a low mileage 2003 CL55 and that would be after it checked out with a Mercedes PPI.
I hate to say it but you are probably better off finding a car with more mileage and everything already replaced. I would think you will need to update the hydraulic hoses and accumulators at a minimum. A little extra money now will save you $5K to $10K and a break down later.

$27K is high, not crazy high, but high. But look at it this way...you should buy an extended warranty on a CL55 no matter the miles. On a 17K mile car, the warranty will be a couple/few thousand less than it will be on a 47K mile car. And you might get a longer available term too.

I'm certainly not the savviest when it comes to the technical stuff so I really appreciate all of the advice, and quite frankly, I depend on it. I see 15k miles and I think nothing can possibly be wrong with this car. I think it's like a brand new car. I can understand now that that is simply not the case. The car is still roughly ten years old and so are all of the parts.
I intend on replacing all of the hydraulic hoses and accumulators, all though I don't know what they are or what that means. I know, I need to educate myself.
Can someone give me an idea of what this might cost?
I've read a few posts about aftermarket warranties. As you may know, there are mixed emotions about these warranties and whether they are worth it. I'm not convinced either way yet. If its going to allow me to enjoy the car with no concerns, then I'm in.

it might be tough getting a warranty, but imo it's well worth it. i have one with chrysler and it's been terrific and more than paid for itself already. i wouldn't go replacing working items unless there is a recall. it's a great car. a warranty gives you peace of mind if it's a good one! i'd check out the warranty options before i bought the car and get a comitment from the co. if you purchase the car.

Whatever CL you are thinking about buying, do it with your eyes open. These are exotic cars, and cost a fortune to maintain relative to your basic motor. You are going to go through tires every 8k at a cost of $300 each. If the ABC breaks you will need to open your wallet wide. Compared to a Ferrari, they are inexpensive. Compared to an Acura, they are stupid expensive. My '03 CL55 is the best car I have ever owned, and as a daily commuter a thing of beauty. But I budget $5k a year for maintenance and spend every penny of it.

General rule...
things are only worth what people will pay for them. B cautious when people say "they are bringing"....usually that's what they see as asking prices. CL 's are unique cars, and a big, used , expensive to maintain coupe is not exactly mainstream merchandise. After watching them at the auctions, OVE, trader,eBay, 27k is a really big number for an 03, but hey, you're looking at it and I'm not. If you have 27k, like it, and it checks out, far be it from any of us to tell you what to do. Just remember, there are reasons why these were once 100+k and they are now 20 ish k. Good luck and use your head.

Garage Temporarily Empty
So I took his advice and picked up an S600 With lesser miles for a bit more money but saved a few thousand on the warranty.
It was the best move I made. Because of the warranty, I saved huge in the long run.
$100 deductible and Any Mercedes dealer will not bat an eye.
I hope that helps some....

Actually,
I would be quite surprised if any reputalbe compnay will sell you a warranty on one of these cars at this stage of the game. Even if you do, it's going to be nearly cost prohibitive.
