Two things to check.
Clean the area well then start your car and let it warm up to normal operating temperature.
Then while the car is running visually check the area for any type of pin hole leak or crack in the expansion tank. Also look at the cap area to see if you can detect a leak or o-ring issue.
If you can not, turn the vehicle off and then inspect a few minutes after shut down for the same.
I had this issue and it was a crack forming on the side of the expansion tank which caused a pinhole leak.
