SRS light CL500 W215

The SRS light has illuminated. The fault was diagnosed as the spiral behind the airbag in the steering wheel. I have taken it to the local garage who replaced the spiral in the steering column. Since then the fault returns. It may take 1 day or 2 weeks to reoccour. I have returned to the garage 4 times with the same fault. They seem to remove the spiral unit, check the connectors, reassemble and reset the fault. I then drive away until the fault returns.

Can anyone help?

It may also be worth mentioning the car also has an intermitent fault on the passenger seat folding lock, I don't think this is associated but it may be worth a mention.

sounds like the shop got it wrong. Just wondering, does it happen when the front passenger seat is being used ? Maybe someone light in weight ? My SRS only comes on when my 100 lb daughter sits in the front passenger seat ! I THINK this is a common issue. Others may chime in here.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.
The SRS light is on all the time and does not switch off when passenger seat folding lock fail occours.
I understood that when an SRS fault occurs (intermittant or persistant) the fault light remains illuminated until it is reset using the Electronic management system. Is this not correct?
