Left Side Steering Wheel Controls Not Working ?

Left Side Steering Wheel Controls Not Working ?
04 CL55 Amg
Right side is working fine but no left side ? cannot scroll through the dash warning s and settings ?
going to disconnect the battery tomorrow pull the air bag and have a look , has anyone experienced this problem before ?
my first thought was to use a continuity tester and see if the switches work when i get in there , and i was also wondering if there may be a module at fault somewhere .

went to take the cover off and pushed the horn and it does not work ? but now my left buttons work but no horn ?
had to come back and edit this .
i got the horn working ( relay bad ) but now my left buttons only work when key is in on position and engine not running and if i start the engine the buttons don't work ? very strange
