Both rear tires drive the car. If you matt the pedal, the passangers side one will spin first with the ABS cutting back the power by applying the brakes on it so the drivers one can start to spin.

The passenger side tire seems to wear more, and spin more, but with the open rear end which ever tire has less traction can spin. For example if you are making a left hand turn and weight is transferred to the right side its not uncommon for the left wheel to spin. The same will happen if you have two different road conditions for each tire, ice, water, sand or dirt will allow that side of the car to spin before the side with dry smooth pavement. This is why there is so much talk about having a limited slip differential (LSD). This would allow us to harness the most power out of our cars instead of having it constantly lost to wheel spin and/or traction control. It would provide more of an even distribution of power to both wheels and help reduce wheel spin. See the link below it would be great if you guys were both interested to help make this group buy a reality.

All no - lsd mercedes are rear-right-wheel drive under normal conditions. Even the 4matic ones. The right rear tire is always the one to wear out first.

Racehorse-while it would be nice to get that unit, I can't really justify the price on one. I'm going to assume its going to be around the $3500 mark plus installation. For a diff... The "Mercedes AMG" tax will be high on this one. I have bought aftermarket diffs before and they were no where near this type of price. Besides, I don't drag my car and for street duty, the stock one will suffice for now.

The O.S. Giken one is around $3500 or Closer to $5k with the Renntech sticker on it. They are guestimating this Quaife to be in the $1100 range. In four years of ownership I've been to the track 3 times. By no means am I a track guy. I want it for driving around town where the streets aren't prepped for racing. Under normal driving conditions is where I think I would appreciate it the most. Just think if we could almost go full throttle at 30 without wheel spin...

1100 is reasonable, that's for sure. The problem up here might be the installation and support after the fact. It would be nice to get traction though.
