tire question

hi, 2005 cl600 recommended tires, front 245/45/18, rears 265/40/18. if i keep the fronts stock 245/45/18 and use 265/35/18's on the rear will this cause any problems such as handling, suspension, speedometer, etc. i can get a good deal on the 265/35/18's. is it worth the change?
thanks
p.s. if anyone has a pair of 265/40/18's in good condition at a reasonable price pm, or e-mail me.

Why are you going so small in the rear? Why not run at least a 275?

actually i can get 265/35/18's front and 285/35/18's rear. will these fit on my stock rims and cause any problems, suspension, speedometer, rubbing, etc.? i wanted to stay stock because it's a daily driver and i don't race. also, i have a warranty and don 't want to take a chance of voiding it due to customizing.
thoughts.

The MB dealers in the NE have signs warning folks of unauthorised mods esp/ to wheels and tires voiding warranties. Do you have an MB warranty??? Suggest you stay stock for the time being.

If it is a daily driver suggest you put it in "C" on the transmission. The car has so much torque this will have the car starting in 2nd gear that takes off the strain on the drivetrain and the wear on the tires. You can still pass anything on the road while traveling. A friend from AMG corporate gave me this tip.

Where are you and what tires are you considering? I have one 265/40/18 Yoko that has almost no wear on it that might work for you CHEAP. PM me.

Whem mixing tire sizes the diameters need to be the same to satisfy the ESP system.
