Supercharger Oil

Changed my Supercharger oil this weekend.

OMG, what everyone said is so true. The old oil smells like a barn full of animals. My whole garage needs a good airing out.

Easy procedure on the 55k motors. Takes about 30 minutes. Tools/supplies needed (long arm ball end 5mm Allen wrench, paper towels, Teflon tape, Jet Oil II)

Mobil Jet Oil II is the specified oil which is the same oil used in jet engines.

Thought it was funny that when I bought the quart of oil (enough to do 7-8 oil changes) from the aviation supply, the guy asked what kind of jet I had.

Mercedes has no service interval recommended. So in their eyes, lifetime fill until there is an issue.

Shelf life on the oil in a unopened quart is 10 years. Educated minds would start thinking about that recommendation.

Remember, heat is what kills oil.

You're CL600 is supercharged???!!! LOL. Your motor is twin turbo and the oil the turbo chargers is supplied from the motor so when you change your motor oil, that is all that is needed.

Do you have spec (like how much oil to be filled), procedure, or any pictures? I have no idea where to even start. Thanks in advance for your help as usual.

See: https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...refilling.html

While the above shows the supercharger removed from the vehicle, the extract and change procedure easily can be achieved while the supercharger is on the vehicle as I did. Use a 30ml or bigger syringe with some vinyl tubing to extract and fill.

You just need to make sure to use a 5mm long arm L-Allen wrench with a ball end in order to get the correct angle as the supercharger pulley prevents straight access to the Allen head plug.

I extracted maybe 110ml (cc) of oil. Filling is like a rear end differential. Fill until the oil flows out the hole, thus making it level with the bottom of the fill/drain plug. Takes about 130ml (cc) to fill.

Aydin did a video of the procedure here:

Nope. It would be a fortune to take the turbos out. Run them until they crap out.
