Repair Manuals

What is the best source for repair manuals for a CL? Where can I find them? Does Mercedes sell them?

Somewhere I saw some pics of what looked like a factory manual on a computer - is this embedded in the Star system or is there a manual available on CD-ROM etc?

So Star does diagnostics, allows you to tweak settings (ECU/TCU tune), and has all the service procedures with diagrams? Holy hell I need to put that on my list of things to get.

I've seen 'original' Star systems and 'Chinese' clones, I'd want to get an original, valid system. Does anyone know of a good source for the software and the connector cables? Would set it up on my own dedicated computer.

you cannot buy an original. it is only sold to dealers and requires a very hefty annual subscription.

star requires a particular brand laptop so people having the chinese clone elect to run it inside a virtual machine mimicking that hardware.

star does not normally allow tweaking of any settings in the sense the tuners do things. it is for logging, activations and troubleshooting. some star setups have dev mode which is in german and allows you to do things but you really need to know what you are doing.

So a tuner who flashes your ECU - how are they tweaking settings?
