Wavetrack might develop a Limited Slip Differential for us...
Hi, Wavetrack might develop a LSDifferential for our CL AMG cars if they see that there is interest in it.
Here is what they have just sent me: Hi Christian, Of course, we can develop one, but it must make business sense. In truth, you are the first one to ask that we have noted. There may be a good market for this car, but so far, we don't know about it. For what model ?- each is different. We can make a Wavetrac, but someone would have to commission us to make them. We don't have plans to make them for our own range at this point, so a customer would have to order 30-50 units. If we have an order for 30+ units, we will make them. Maybe you know a tuner that has an interest? We cannot give you a price because we don't have a sample, but estimate between 1300-1900 USD. Regards, What are the similarities/differences between the 55s and 65s Diffs? Maybe someone could join forces so we get that thing developed... Notice the red part also, i cant believe this! |
when wavetrac started the build for the slk32 they wanted 20 units. luckily the crossfire also fit and in short order we had 20 deposits. it took close to a yr to finish it due to demand for material and other cars with more potential sales than ours but it did get finished. i believe to date about 50 units have been sold. autotech and unitrax are great folks to work with

Ok can someone post data about which cars use the same Diffs like the CLs ?
Who knows this? |

Who knows this? If anyone is not prepared to wait for others to develop one, either PM me your VIN, or click though our website to send us your enquiry directly. http://www.birdsauto.com/quaife/sear...ercedes&s=&mi= Regards, Kevin Bird. |

Hi thats very nice. :-)
Can i order directly from the Motherland UK since i'm in Germany? If you could email me details to quaife@birdsauto.com, or submit your full details through our website, we will send you a formal offer. We may also have some contacts for you with respect to installation, depending on your location in Germany. Regards, Kevin. |
Being in the UK, £ 2000 fitted for my 55 sounds a good deal.

I would love to get this from you mr Kevin. What other modifications are needed for a CL 55 AMG to install one of these LSD's? Any ECU programing or anything needed other then simply replacing the part?

-Ron The Quaife LSDs do not lock abruptly, so the traction contol will not even "see" that anything is different. What you get is more tractive effort before traction control sees any wheelspin, therefore it doesn't trigger anywhere near as often under normal road conditions. You can drive the car with traction control engaged, or if you want to have some fun, you can disengage it. Link below is to a video of what can be done if you disengage. Maybe a little extreme, but you know what journalists are like! Regards, Kevin. |
Ok Mr. Bird. Is it really the right one you are offering? People posted here: https://mbworld.org/forums/cl55-amg-...cl55-cl65.html
That the Quaife mostly offered for the CL 55 Kompressor is not fitting. EDIT: Can you post the "number/description" whatever of the correct Quaife unit so i can check myself? Also, is it hard to install it in the differential housing? Is this a DIY Job for guy like me who is doing V8 engines? Never had a hand on a Diff though... |

We always need the VIN of the car, so we can check which final drive Mercedes installed in your car. This avoids the risk of someone without proper knowledge offering a "CL 55" Quaife differential for a 215 model car to your 216 model car. The model codes currently listed by Quaife do not differentiate between those two cars, which is where the confusion comes from. We will fix that with the new listings. All Quaife differentials we offer are suitable for installation by a "competent mechanic". If you have built engines, then you definitely qualify! Regards, Kevin. |

The only place you can check it is on our website. We are preparing the data now, so that Quaife can load it all onto their website, and this should be complete over the next couple of weeks.

All Quaife units work in the same way, so it's not unreasonable to show this video. Note that it's not necessary to switch out the traction control to get significant benefits in traction in everyday use. I'm pleased to tell you that there is now a formal USA representative for the entire Quaife range of Mercedes Benz Quaife differentials. A: Kleemann USA - 3455 Fillmore Ridge Hts - Colorado Springs, CO 80907 - USA T: 719.473.6441 | F: 719.578.0345 | W: www.kleemannusa.com Regards, Kevin. |
