Battery draining on spare key

Battery draining on spare key
Hello all,
I have a weird problem with my spare key for my 2003 CL55 AMG. I rotate using the keys to even out the battery drain on them and the other day I found that the spare key would not unlock the doors, pop the trunk, etc. It works fine to start the vehicle, but the remote functions were dead. I replaced the batteries in it and that fixed the issue... for about a week. Now although the key works fine, it drains the batteries completely in a week. I disassembled it and cleaned the contacts and circuit board (with contact cleaner) and checked the switches (thinking a stuck switch was the culprit). It did not work to fix the issue. The batteries drain in a week.
Anyone see this problem or have any suggestions?

The key fob may be bad.
