Reminds me of this:
As for old(er) ladies and their cars.... Have I mentioned my soon to be 66 year old mother drives a Gallardo with a 6 speed manual transmission? Oh, and she loved the time I took her up to 160 in it down a side street. She asked why I slowed down so soon. Figured I'd mention it since it's Mother's Day this weekend

The son tells me the car originally belonged to his uncle, and he sold it to his mom.
Here's a little about C5 active handling:
"..."Active Handling" which has a stability control feature that uses on-board sensors to measure the vehicle's lateral acceleration, yaw rate, and steering wheel position. These sensors work in conjunction with the vehicle's Anti-lock braking system and traction control system which automatically assist a vehicle's driver in understeering and oversteering situations. The Z06 came standard with the second generation "Active Handling" system. The second generation system added substantial improvements to the original system."

Is this what one looks like when the ABC system takes a dump? This one was sitting behind a local dealership today when I stopped by:
The tags expired two months ago, so it's probably been sitting there for a while.

Bad or dirty control blocks front and rear at the least. You want to run away from any CL with ABC issues. It starts small and dominoes if it is not properly maintained. Considering MB has no maintenance schedule, there has probably been no maintenance done.

I'm In...
Bought the '03 yesterday. It's being shipped from Savannah, Georgia (I live outside Columbus, Ohio). I'll post pictures as soon as she shows up. Can't wait!!

As for when the ABC takes a dump... Well, considering that's a Brabus (well, Brabus badges at least), I'd assume it has a lowering module. When the ABC goes, the ride goes to ****. Hard to describe the feeling exactly. The car loses all suspension damping and yaws when on the highway. At least that's my experience anyway. Personally, I feel like a recovering drug addict every day my ABC manages to work--like the car needs some twelve step program every morning just in case... We're on week three now...

I came from the Z06 scene into the MB World as well. If 600 or 65 is something you consider go with the V12 TT. I had the 55 but the 600 makes me smile everyday. Good Luck

"Hello, my name is Ricky and I drive a CL Mercedes." (Welcome Ricky!) "It's been three weeks since my last ABC related issue..." (Applause breaks out from all the Mercedes mechanics at the ABCA meeting. They all know, it's just a matter of time...)

So far, not much. Had to fix the soft close component in the driver's door. The bottom of the thing breaks off. My intercooler pump was shot so I found a used Johnson pump on ebay for $75.00 and replaced it. I'm finding that owning one of these cars is a learning process. Man they sure drive nice. They just float down the road.
