why does he mention the 5k + DA as a handicap or at all? When using nitrous it totally negates DA hence his excellent low iat's he posted.. Though the DA certainly effected everyone else who didn't use Nitrous..
the winner of launch wouldn't ruin the e55's chance thru entire 1/2 mi run, ie point of a longer 1/2 mi vs reg 1/4 mi race. The e55 simply needs much more tuning/tweaking as even your 65 should've run a bit faster
This is his direct post on how he further cooled his rig off w/bags of ice etc etc.. You didn't even use a fan right? Then in his Nitrous run note how his iat's barely go 20-27 deg above ambient at the end of his run.. Your IAT's at end of your run hit 187 right? IE DA in a bottle..
Now at the track, I iced that car down with three bags on my one run, and got the temps to 70*. Ambient that day was again 90* and humid. At the end of the 1/2 mile run I was at 118* with iced water and meth.
This is the best right here lol, I sat in line for 1 full hour stop and go. This time I was heating up my bottle the entire time to get it to 1000psi. I started that run at 110*, and at the end of the 1/2 mile, I ended at 117* lol. That is with a 30\16 jet combination and it felt amazing above 6000rpms.

My IAT's on the run against Craig hit 165F I believe. I'm sure Craig will get his setup fine-tuned for the Ocala event and hit 165+, especially since it's at sea level and the air will be cool and dense.
As for DA in a bottle, from my personal experience with nitrous it honestly just isn't the case. At least it wasn't the case with the small shots I was running (125 and under).
From what I've seen, lets say a 75 shot is good for 5 tenths. That 1/2 second will be trimmed off your current ET in current conditions (illustrated below).
Run at sea level DA:
- non nitrous run: 11.7
- 75 shot of nitrous: 11.2
Run at 5K level DA with the exact same mods as the sea level DA run above:
- non nitrous run: 12.7
- 75 shot of nitrous: 12.2 (not a 11.2 since the DA is still 5K feet)
If I decide to run next year, hopefully a tune for VP 109 along with downpipes and hyper inflated front tires will get me a 155.
And I just want to add, I went to have a good time with family and friends and that's exactly what I accomplished. I'm not looking to set any records other than improving each year. My first year at Clayton I ran 135mph. The second year was 144mph. This year 150mph. Next year I'd like to run 155mph, but a safe 151 without hurting the car, myself, or anyone else will be a success as well.

The data log is unclear, but the IAT actually peaked at 163F.
By the way, if memory serves, I believe my IAT's on the Crossfire actually increased when I used nitrous. I know that sounds crazy, but I'll try to dig up some data logs tonight to show it. I know my boost increased on it. Also, typically you have to retard the timing whenever you run more than a 50 shot.

Edit: I was going by Craiges info of using ONLY a 50 shot..




I think I recall reading where he said it lowers his IAT's also, but I generally just let things like that go unless it comes up in a coversation I'm having. I think most people just expect the temps to drop, which makes perfect sense to me. I'm at a loss as to why the temps increased, but that's what the logs showed for me. Maybe it differs for other setups.
It was also interesting that my boost pressure measured at the plenums would increase a little when running it, but that can be explained away.

Below are the cars that ran slower than me. I would have thought a 2013 Ferrari 458 Italia would have killed me, but he didn't. Maybe it had a problem, as it only ran 144 and 146 mph.

On both my runs I was so focused on out ET'ing my opponent (being first across the line) that I left traction control on and feathered the throttle to prevent spin. Just now it hit me how dumb that was. If I'd used dyno mode with traction control off, flooring it off the line, I would have spun the tires forever. That would have increased my trap speed by a few MPH. Next year I'll be spinning halfway down the track FTW!

One thing that also surprised me was that they listed my car as 610 WHP. I'm wondering if WannaGoFast or myself made a typo on my car's stats, since at the time I sent in my specs I was at 509 WHP. FWIW, my last dyno before the event was 558 WHP.

funnier still, they listed a few e55's that day, Chris Copelands 2006 e55 w/700 WHP.. That only trapped 152? That's not Craiges e55 right? Damn... Your traps wouda easily been 2-3 mph faster that day argh!

No, Craig's car was 93 on the list (car number 160) and Jason Cummings (owner of BIP) was listed as the driver. That other E55 that's 127 on the list (car number 166) was the other Weistec car I believe. It hit 151 MPH.
