I have al ton of miles on my 2005 CL 65. Lately I have felt a slight bump or clunk in the steering wheel while parking slow while manipulating the front end / steering wheel. I know what a steering shaft isolator/bushing feels like and it's not that. My thought is a tie-rod end but surely owners on this forum have had issues like this and I just would like to here what they have found.

Control arm bushings maybe? I had a simular symptom on my range rover and it was due to worn out control arm bushings.

I had a similar issue and it turned out to be the ball joints. I believe these cars have 6 (don't quote me as I'm not an expert). I replaced two and the problem went away. However recently I have been experiencing a squeak that is coming from the lower control arm ball joint. So I will be replacing these as well.
Thank you,
Keeping in mind my car has over 173,000 miles on the clock even Mercedes Benz a well built car will need parts replaced.

I like this car more than I ever thought I would, its really growing on me since I bought it 100,000 miles ago. I've never driven a car that gives me the feeling of security as this one does. Heavy well built and loads of power. I have a big track project on-going in my garage and its still got at least 6 months of tinkering before it will move on its own. Once that's running the Benz will go under the knife.
That is awesome to hear the amount of miles you rack up. I'm sure it has come at a cost but good for you if you can make it work. I had a similar noise a while back and it turned out to be motor mounts. I thought it was suspension related at first. If you haven't done them recently, it might be something to consider.
