I'm in the process of buying a 2003 CL55 with about 50,000. One owner, well maintained, all documented. My question is I notice some of the cars have the "Kompressor V8" insignia on the side, mine does not. The engine cowling says AMG, I ran the VIN number, etc. It all checks out, CL55 AMG. Was this not on some of the cars?

Did you ask the previous owner if he removed it?
Prior to 03 the cl55 was not supercharged and therefore did not say kompressor. Maybe this car is not actually an 03. Just throwing some possibilities out there. Or the badging was simply removed.

There are several other cosmetic differences introduced in 03 as well.

if the vin checks out and everything is documented, it seems far more likely that the badge was just removed. your question should be answered as soon as you pop the hood.

VIN checks out, CL55 AMG, so guess he took off badge. Also the Tach says Kompressor:

Check Up
Hey ,

All you have to do is , to take it in a garage you know , and let them give you your answer.

For this matters , you need to check it in the right places , you wont get a credible answer here my friend , because we wont understand it , if there is a problem.

All the best to you,
Rejdi
