Major Malfunction with my 2003 CL55

Well.....was driving the car the other day and it was idling very funny. Finally, the Malfunction light goes on and says ESP right under it. Well.....the idling got worse to the point where I couldn't even accelerate and when I put the car in Park, it would REV on its own to 3K rpm and back down.

I got it home going 10mph, turned the car off and it wouldn't start. It would crank and turn on, but would turn off right away.

Finally it worked. As a matter of fact, it started up and drove like nothing was wrong with it at all. I took it around the block a few times and it felt completely normal.

The next day it did the same thing while I was testing it out and I had to have it towed to Fletcher Jones (only dealer that was free through Roadside Assistance). I got a C240 4Matic with 400 miles on it and they still haven't called me to tell me whats going on.

Any ideas???

Needless to say, I am disappointed with the car at this point since it only has 5800 miles on it (have had it about a year now). I've logged on 10K on my Lexus LS430 in 5 months with nothing but praise.

Something in the electronics. They will hook it up to the DAS system and do a DTC code dump to see what logged.

That will lead them to look at certain systems and diagnose them.

Dodge Viper RT/10, MB SLK32 AMG, KBS Mk5
Occasionally, Vipers will run rough due to the management system. Disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and then reconnecting it seems to work for a few. It also makes the Viper run faster for about 10 minutes as the ECM has to re-learn everything. Vipers who drag race use this technique a lot. A bad battery/connection will cause this problem also.

Hey Adam,

Picked up the car and here is what went wrong...

As stated on my Customer Copy :

6144 # WARR Replace the Supercharger recirculation actuator as needed (333-87831). As per DYNO Team. R&R the Intake. R&R the Super Charger. Disassemble the Supercharger from the intercooler. Remove and Replace the Supercharger Recirculation Actuator/ Reinstalled the Supercharger and Intake.

Whatever the hell that means......I'm just glad the beast is back.

Basically they Replaced the Supercharger recirculation actuator. What this entailed was to remove the Intake (Y pipe rear of assembly). Remove the Super Charger. Disassemble the Supercharger from the intercooler. Remove and Replace the Supercharger Recirculation Actuator then reinstall it all back.

I'm sure there were some gasket kits listed as well that were replaced.

Not a major hassle at all.

The Supercharger recirculation actuator must have something to do with the circulation of the coolant through the intercooler.

I don't know why this would have caused the problems you first spoke of.

Glad to know everything is runing right now !

Your exactly right. There were 2 gaskets on there too that were replaced. What's really bothering me now is that the idle is rough. I'm hoping that gets taken care of on its own, but I doubt it. I might have to pay them back a visit.

Mainly during cold. However, I never recalled it being quite this rough before the incident. Maybe its just me being overly cautious now.

I just came back from driving in the cold weather here at night. Such a joy to drive this thing, the acceleration is addicting.

My idle has always been rough at start when cold. Once I drive away it is fine and is fine for the rest of the day. Just in the morning at start it is rough.

I dont even want the dealer messing with it since they will jsut mess something else up. LOL

Yeah, I'm actually scared to take it back to the idiots. I haven't tested it out yet, but I'm hoping its my imagination.
