Question Planning to Buy 2012 CL63: Maintenance Costs??

Hi there,

I'm planning on purchasing a 2012 CL63 with 30k miles on it, and was wondering about what I should expect for maintenance costs on it. I will probably keep the car with another five years and 40k miles.

I'm planning to get an extended warranty so am not too concerned about general reliability, but mostly wear-and-tear items (heard the brakes can be rather expensive!) that won't be covered as well as service costs and intervals.

Cheers!

Had my 2010 CL63 for 2.5 relatively trouble free years.
Got the car with 18K miles; current mileage is 34K.

Had to replace breaks: front pads and rotors, pads rear = 3K in parts and labor.
I know...it's extremely expensive, but I really like the car, so...

Thanks for the info. At how many miles did you need to do the brakes? Was that the cost at the dealer and with OEM parts?

Also, what about standard servicing (oil change, etc.)?

Had my 2009 CL63 for little bit more than a year now.
Things replaced:
- ABC Pump; 4100USD with labor
- front brake pads; 420USD with labor
- lower arm on front wheel; 450USD with labor
- regular service with oil change; about 800USD with labor

All OEM parts, however, not done in Mercedes, so labor is noticeably cheaper.

Right now have 78k miles on the odo and still running original brake rotors, they will have to be replaced between 90k-100k miles according to my serviceman. Front rotors are 1250USD per piece, rear rotors are 1400USD per piece (no idea why rear are more expensive while being smaller).

All in all, bloody expensive car to own.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, definitely seems pricey. I'm planning to get an extended warranty so hopefully I will only be on the hook for wear-and-tear items and service. $800 for the regular service seems a little high though, is that normal? How often is that needed?

Front rotors needed replacement @34K - most german cars eat through the front breaks pretty quickly...
Yes, the replacement cost for front rotors+pads and rear pads including labor was 3K at Mercedes of Beverly Hills.
Oil changes always done at the indy dealer, cost is inline with other high end cars - $150/change.

I am using an OEM AMG oil, 450USD per 9 liters.
All of filters (cabine, etc..) are about 150USD.
Quite expensive, yes.

Warranty is definitely a good idea. The front rotors will last long time if you are easy on brake pedal.
