New Wheels For my CL55
I have been looking for wheels for my new to me CL55. This was one of the hardest cars ever to pick wheels for. It doesn’t fit squarely into a category. It’s not pre Luxury like S sedan, nor sports car - or even sporty in the sense of an E AMG. Don’t get me wrong. It’s sporty but in a dignified big body sort of way.
Too open a spoke could be too airy in a sportscar sort of way. Too much metal isn’t right either. Too much bling on a black car and I undermine its hardcore capabilities. On and on.
I envisioned these could strike a happy medium. Sporty yet with decent surface area. Luxurious looking yet not blingy. I think I nailed it!
20x8 and 20x10 rotary forged TSW’s.

Not bad. Nice looking car! I agree that it's hard to find an aftermarket wheel that properly compliments the look and character of the car. Personally I still like the original AMG forged 2-piece wheels best of all on this car.
As for category? These cars are GTs -- Grand Tourers.

I went with 19” Brabus. Similar to stock but a little more pop. Also back when the car was new Brabus had this version out there as an aftermarket, so it seemed fitting and almost stock.

I like the OP wheel selection but I would say for a big body coupe, 20" or 21" would be the correct sizing. You need to visually make a determination as to the correct proportions. 19's in general seem a wee to small for this big body. 19's work with SL or SLK.

He does have 20's. I think they look too big for a 215. I agree with you if we were talking about a 216 since the wheel well seems to look bigger.

So wheels are very personal and they are the easiest way to persalize your car and distinguish it from everybody else’s.

As far as the style of that wheel, I like really like your choice. It's a wheel that seems to harness the heritage of the past Mercedes vintage styling, but with a modern twist. Well done, you have a good eye. The other wheel that always looks great on Benzes is the 11 spoke like the black series style....In a 20" with black or silver. They seem to scream MB AMG to me. Verde Insignia is a great choice for MB, and they are wicked cheap too.
