W216 2010 CL63 Engine Blown! Need Help and advise!
Hi guys
I need your help and advise
I have a 2010 CL63 with 78k KM on it (m156)
the belt and pullies had to be replaced I've waited for 10 days for the parts to arrive.
and after just 1 day of pullies and belt replacement, the engine just died.
just bought it and I only drove 3 times.
oil pump failed and ruined the whole bottom of the engine, you know the rest.
my mechanic, quote me a long list of parts needed to rebuild it. Pistons, crankshaft, piston rings, oil pump, engine (timing) chainset and many other parts.
since currently I don't have any authorized dealer or workshop around and concerned about the result and process, I've decided to replace the whole engine
now I was wondering should I stay with M156 or I have the option and it's possible to go for M157? if it is which one should I chose?
I decided to keep the car as long as I can upgrade to C217 and it won't happen in the next few years or let's say another 30k KM
so reliability and maintenance cost has to be considered.
I know if I decide to swap the engine with m157 the ECU has to be changed but what about the transmission and fitment?
do I have to modify the engine mounts?
it is my first thread so please forgive me if I didn't do it great.
thank you all in advance

Install a used M156, sell, get a newer CL with the M157. The swap would probably be very difficult and your car may be worth less in the long run by doing the swap. M156, as you have seen, has catastrophic weaknesses.
