What's the difference?

i see the performance stats are nearly identical for a cl 600 and a cl55 AMG, so what are the main differences besides the v12/v8? which is "better" ?? i know the 600 costs more, but why?

If you do a search in this forum you will find several discussions where we have hashed this all out before.

CL55 adds to CL600---
AMG enhanced ABC suspension, brakes, tuned AMG exhaust
Speed-shift programmed 5-speed auto(quicker shifts)
AMG wheels, body styling
AMG sport seats, instruments,steering wheel(shift buttons,thumbgrips)
AMG design Nappa leather on seats(CL600 has exclusive nappa leather on doors, seats, and dash)

The only reason why I think the 600 is almost 10 grand more is it's more luxurious interior and possibly a premium tacked on because of the 600's "exclusive" name and image

Which one is better? Well the CL600 has equal horsepower, but has 74 more lb/ft of torque, and its V12 is exceptionally quiet, smooth, and powerful and the ride would be slightly smoother due to the non-AMG enhanced suspension
If it were me, I'd choose the CL600 because of its exclusivity and exotic engine...

That is a gorgeous ride, but believe it or not, my next benz will probably be a 01-newer cl600 in white with tan interior. i'm leaning toward the 600 because it seems a little less sporty but more luxurious.(although it is just as fast). a little less $$, too (not much, though) BTW, how's the reliability of the v12 turbo or not? any higher mileage ones out there?

ABC button

I drive with mine on all the time. I like the tighter handling.
Does anyone know of a reason, other than preference for ride quality, that this shouldn't be done? Can continuous use damage the car or computerized systems?

I'm not personally convinced the ABC Sport button does anything... I think its the equivalent of the door close button in some elevators.

Well, I'm being a little sarcastic... it does prevent some body lean. But I really wish these cars had adjustable damping... the ABC reacts far too slowly to be able to tune the ride.

If they had variable rate damping as well as ABC, that'd rock!
