Pool of water found under both sides wells of the trunk in a CL65

Hi everyone

My radio started acting up.. not being available and I kept resetting it to no.avail. when I lifted the trunk to check it out....

To my shock.. I have found of water found the radio amplifier modules submerged halfway in..water!!
i checked the right side under battery well of the and found the power trunk "pump" drowning in water...

After 30 seconds of disbelief I pushed through the drain plugs which were clogged... removing the gunk resulted in dripping... Soni figure i will remove the plugs to drain as clogs will most likely return.

Now the million dollar question... how come so much water is allowed to accumulate there? Should it not drain better? There was very little dust gunk to begin with.....

At east I also know why my power trunk stopped functioning..months ago. By the way anyone knows the replacement part number?

After draining... the radio is functioning again .(to my astonishment). I lost Voice control for now...

How do I prevent this from happening again...i got suspicious and removed the taillights..and lo and behold the base was also wet... There was very little water in the wheel well.

Please share your fixes or ideas..

Underneath battery. 2005 CL65

Amp modules removed. 2-3 inches of water

This is just a product of how cars age, they're not made with owner #5 in mind, but owners 1 and 2 within the warranty period. Everything is designed with a usable lifespan... Drains clog, rust inhibitors fail, rubber/foam gets brittle and leaks You can reverse/delay some of this with silicone grease, which I use on the rubber seals on all my vehicles. Owning older vehicles requires additional attention and care, but you may still run into issues such as these.

What I did was vacuum the water out with the shop vac and look at the rubber seal along the trunk water leaks into there

DIY

The trunk it’s not waterproof they are bolts that are plastic and water drips through them you can’t see it because of the plastic rubber between the trunk lid in the trunk water seeps into there I’ve had the same problem and in the rear right side fender there’s a hole there to water gets in there my battery was the same way
