My Bose Blows

How is that sound system in the '03 and up? because my '02 sucks.

I own a high-end home audio/video custom installation company. We deal with all brands of audio and video. Anyone in the industry knows that Bose is a joke. What posesses Mercedes to go one of the worst manufacturers of audio and tell them to design a system for this car?

I was in a Vanquish the other day and that had a system from Linn... That, my friends, is a system. Great products just like their home gear.

I am hesitant to upgrade because I don't want anyone with a Makita drill in my car. Then I will have to sell the car for less money because it has an "upgraded" stereo in it. So I am stuck with this horrible system.

I hope someone from Mercedes reads this... NEVER go to Bose again. NEVER!!!!

something fast
I also work for a home theatre company and my friend always says the same thing that bose is a piece of *****. Its funny because before I worked there I thought bose was good, but know i know is sucks after hearing other systems. Mercedes has switched to harmon kardon for its newer models. The S, CL, and SL class still use the bose. We have a client with a vanquish and that sound system rocks, that exhaust is not too shabby either.

Most audio companies spend 80% of their budget on product engineering and development, and 20% on advertising.

Bose spends 80% of its money on advertising and the other 20% on "development". Hence why people have the impression they actually make a good product.

Development to most means making a better product, to Bose it means making a cheaper to produce product.

Materials cost on an Acousimass 5 system, $14.23. Retail: $499.

Good speaker companies solder heavy gauge wire to the drivers.

Cheap speaker companies use lighter gauge wire crimped onto the drive via connectors.

Bose uses horsehair WRAPPED around the driver's terminal. After all, a connector costs $0.0002 when purchased in bulk. And solder can certainly be expensive when used in large quanitities. No need to waste money.

And this is who Mercedes chooses as their audio system provider.

Bean counters rule the world. They live in the distorted midrange and cannot appreciate the full sound spectrum. :v
