CL55k Belt Squeak on Cold Startup...ABC Pulley?
Do you guys think it' just the serpentine belt or could it be the ABC pulley as well? I've attached a youtube vid of what it sounds like (listen about 20 seconds in).
It only squeaks on a cold startup. Once the car is fully warmed up it goes away. I recently had a coolant issue, and believe some coolant may have gotten on the belt. The sound only appears to be coming from the ABC area.
Thanks in advance!

By the way, I sprayed some WD-40 on the belt away from the pulley and the sound stopped for a few seconds, then resumed.

I had this same issue and lived with it for several months. I told a friend whom is a MB Tech and he recommended taking a wire brush and "De-glazing" the back side of the belt and all smooth pulleys.
Once I did this, carefully with the engine running, the sound went away.
Might be worth trying and seeing if this fixes your sounds.

Thanks for the reply! Already bought a new belt, so hopefully that a thorough cleaning of the pulleys will do the trick!

Hi, alternator may be charging more at start up, but i think you have other issues. Any antifreeze or other contaiments on the belt can enhanse slip. A new belt is a good first gess.

Had the same noise. I lost count whether if it was the SC idler pulley, or main idler, tensioner or the ABC pulley. BTW the ABC pulley is replaceable and there is a separate part number. Some noises go away when it's fully warmed up but some noises stay but I think it's the main S/C clutch making the sound now. Oh well.

Keep the old parts and throw them in a box of spares in the trunk.

Not yet! My tech had time to do other maintenance work for me, but we have not gotten to the belt yet. Hopefully within the next week or two I can finally get this done!

Hello...........
Though I do not own the same vehicle............ I had the same squeak on my 2011 ML550, It was only on start-up and it went away after 3-4 minutes..I brought in the vehicle last week and it was the V-Belt....They applied belt dressing and the squeak is gone..Part# 000-989-84-51 SILC/BELT PASTE. I hope that helps....
