Road tripped to Kentucky this weekend in the CL. Took this in Camden, Tennessee.

Glad it runs again. Also glad your surgery went well.
Can you tell us more about that fuel leak under hood?

I was told by my indy mechanic that it was the fuel damper (?). He said on initial pressurization it seeped a little gas but then would stop. I opted to not have it replaced at this time due to the cost and my mechanic, who is a Mercedes owner himself, was not concerned about it. Incidentally I have not smelled any raw gas since then. When my shoulder is completely healed I will most likely tackle the job myself.

Road tripping a lot the last couple of months. On the way home back to Texas from Florida and had to stop and take a tour...and some pictures.

Awesome car, unfortunate luck with the ABC suspension hiccup but I'm glad that got sorted out, along with a successful recovery from your surgery!

I own a 2006 CLS55 AMG, so we're running the same motors

Have you experienced anything in terms of the "Heat soak issues". I don't mean to thread jack you or anything, just curious to see if you have an issue with it. I drove home yesterday night, it was around 20-22*C (I think that's about 70-75*F) and a pretty loud sounding mustang 5.0 (2010-2012 era) actually started walking away from me... I would assume our cars with these torque savy motors should walk a mustang 5.0 without much trouble at all. Although I dont know anything of performance mods in his car, I know mine is bone stock with 107,700kms on it (67k miles). his car sounded raunchy so who knows what bolt ons/tune etc.

When I bought the car I didn't know the intercooler pump was bad. I figured it out after reading the forums and then noticing decreased power after the engine was completely warmed up. I replaced the pump (cheap and easy) with a new Bosch and it's got plenty of get up and go now. I would guess stock vs stock you should've smoked him but he's got that power to weight ratio going for him and if he's got any mods...who knows. Also knowing how to drive these cars helps. I'm still learning when it comes to performance. Also when you think the pedal is floored push it a little harder and it'll feel like a click and then hold on! It'll max out the tach in no time and if the ESP is off the rear end will get out from under you.

I can't tell you how much it pains me to say that my CL55 has been declared a total loss after being rear-ended a few weeks back. It has already been hauled off to auction. The damage appeared very minor and technically it was but it was deemed more expensive to fix than what it was worth.

That same day the odometer rolled 150k miles and the car was still trucking along without any issues.

Since I bought the car I put 70k miles on it and had been to 16 states. The ABC Pump had 90k miles on it. That proves that regular fluid/filter changes work! Other than replacing the accumulators and having the valves blocks rebuilt, the ABC system had performed without incident all of those miles.

For now I will hold off on another purchase as I am yet again facing another shoulder surgery, this time on the left one. I may dive off into V12 territory too. The possibilities excite me. I will post a couple of pictures of my poor CL shortly.

Damn sorry to hear about your loss man! what was damaged that caused total loss? I was T-boned at the beginning of the rear, it smashed in my rear quarter and I thought for sure they would total it but they chose to fix it and paid more than what I bought the car for

It pushed in the rear about 6 inches but you can't really tell because it's behind the plastic bits.

Ohh dear....So you get the value of the car form insurance right? But the insurance keeps the car and you can "buy it back" ?
How much would it cost to "buy it back? There are very valuable parts for other CL drivers, but yes better get your health issues fixed first.
Btw try daily 45 min. magnesium in foot baths, it works miracles for sooo many issues with the body.

I did have the option to buy it back but I didn't want to go down that road. It is on the Insurance Auto Auctions website right now pending auction. It's at the Dallas location if anyone is interested in it. I can provide a link to it later.

Oh and yes the insurance company was fair with its value and it took care of payoff and then some.

Very sorry to hear what happened, at least you had a chance for some fun road trips. They are great cars, especially on the open road. Either way good luck moving forward. Get your shoulders fixed you might need both arms to hold onto a tuned v12tt if you choose to go that route.
