Ideal offset for a 20" wheels on cl55

Apologies in advance if this has been discussed already, but I'm on my mobile, and navigating is a bit more difficult, especially considering I'm in the middle of the Nevada desert.

I want to put 20's on my 03 CL55. I will of course have staggered widths, but I'm curious to know the best offset/backspacing to have. I want the wheels to come right to the lip of the fender. I also have the programinc lowering module, and the car will be driven with approximately a 1.5 to 2" drop.

Thanks, and again, apologies if this is a redundant post.

My recommendation is a 8.5/9.5 with a 35mm offset. I think it's as close as you can get with very minimal rubbing. Here's an example with my CL600. However, I'd be more worried that the spoke pattern would have brake clearance.

Why go staggered? The W215/220 responds beautifully to 9.5" wheels all round. I've just gone 20 x 10 all round.

I found 40mm offset was the absolute minimum offset, and even that took lots of rear fender trimming. I think 44 to 46 mm is preferred - if you actually want to drive your car.

What size are those wheels & tires?

Do they rub the arches?

20 x 9.5 with 285/35 rear
20 x 8.5 with 265/35 front

I have it lowered with air ride lowering links. There is a way to get into the abc module and change the height parameters from the lowest to highest setting. In theory, I can leave the lowest setting g as is, but raise the middle and top height settings accordingly.

On the highest setting there is no rubbing, but at the lowest setting one must be careful when driving. I plan on dialing in some negative camber to help alleviate rubbing issues.

I know many people do not like the "stanced" look, but a little negative camber looks cool. And since this car was purchased as a Boulevard cruiser, and not a track day car, I am more than ok giving up handling for aggressive looks. ..

Yes. I manufacture tires for vintage cars and also put whitewalls on any size radial up to 22". We now offer raided white letter tire kits. Average cost is $135 to do 4 tires

What are the offsets on your setup?

Everything looks great. Would love to see more angles and a rolling video would be amazing! But more pics for sure please
