Shake or slightly rough idle on CL63 M156 2008 UK

Guys,

Trying to get to the bottom of this. Esp when warm you can notice in park or neutral more esp when sat on the passenger side that the engine is shaking. I have been through everything on star and all seems ok. No fault codes. I've changed plugs and manifold gaskets and pcv breather pipe. I believe there is no egr???

My next step was trying to change one bank coil packs just in case they are weak.

Have done compression check on star and it was a 7 rpm difference so no issue there.

Mixture adaptation shows nothing of interest either. All o2 tests and maf tests see, within tolerance as do cam position actuation tests,

Tried different fuels but still no difference.

Engine mounts seem ok, car has done 67k miles

Tried forte injector cleaner too

Nothing shows up on any smooth running tests on star, no fault count on idle with any cylinders

Any ideas?

Looks like you have coverd it all to me .No info on star , would tell me, or you , that engine mounts want changing, and for what its worth it may fix it . Can you shake the engine manually ? . The gearbox mounts will do the same if faulty.

Can't move engine by hand, seems rock solid. Not checked gearbox mount yet though

Changed all 3 mounts seems 95% better. Still a slight tiny wobble at times when really hot but will have to live with that until I can think of somethink else to investigate

It was ever so slightly so i just lived with it. These m156 can slightly wobble. However, I did notice when I took the engine apart for head bolt issues that the cam loves were slightly worn - maybe you should check this on yours?

motor mounts should be done first - makes a big difference!

more noticeable when hot but I would think that’s just in the head because idles are sigjtly higher when cold. Check cam lobes as I’m sure a tiny wear on them will cause power imbalance and they are known to wear !!

mant thanks, will do, did you have lobes and headbolts done as precaution or did bolts fail?

any other symptoms of this?

thanks

I only did bolts because they failed and noticed the loves ever so slightly worn so i stopped being fussy about the slight idle trying to perfect it as I thought that cams should be perfect before doing anything and just lived with it. Have come across a few that shake like like.
