Not sure whether Matt can answer this... Is there engine hardware difference between the new and the old model? Or it's just software? (I have the old model.)
MB says there is "a newly configured valve assembly," but I'm not sure what valve that is. Do we need to upgrade the valve to get better result?

The main differences when comparing the models is the Exhaust Cam which controls the valves. Im not sure on retrofitting the new cam to the old one is feasible at them moment.
The other differences are Gearbox, Differential and Adaptive Dampening.

Just waiting for mine to be delivered. I'm assuming you've driven one. How much better is the throttle response and gearbox control? Power difference noticeable stock?
Its a very similar drive but the throttle in race mode is greatly improved over the previous generation. It feels quicker too but it will be good to get a side by side race organised!
