‘22 CLA 45 waiting at VPC

Patiently waiting for my ‘22 CLA45. Arrived at VPC Brunswick on 11/9 but dealer has no update since. I’m assuming it’s waiting on something (software update, chip, etc).

Anyone heard anything about issues with new 22s coming over to the US?

Argh... this isn't news I want to hear. I'm waiting for one in Canada. And I haven't gotten any status updates since it was supposedly built in October.

The dealer won't give you any explanation at all as to why the car is still at the port?

MY22 hasn't been released yet, I believe. Once it's officially released, they will start leaving the VPC.

Did it get certified yet (or whatever process it was called when each new model year vehicle lands on US soil?)

It looks like the 35 is, but not the 45 yet.

Different countries have different regulations and such certification process can also be different. Europe also usually gets cars earlier than North America. For example, a new generation vehicle announces in Germany in spring 2022, it will likely arrive in 2022 as a MY22 vehicle while North America might get it as a MY23. That being said, it also depends on what vehicles, S-Class usually arrives way sooner than a A or C for example.

You should have got your vehicle now, right? Are you enjoying it so far?

Nope... did not get the car. No 2022 CLA45's have been delivered in North America. And nobody can say why....

A whole bunch of cars were assembled between September and December of last year... and they are apparently just sitting in a lot. It would be nice to know why.......................

Only change that I've seen is that the 2022 CLA45 has finally appeared on the US Government's FuelEconomy.gov website last week. Up until now they only had the 2022 CLA250 and CLA35. As for Canada I haven't seen any progress at all.

Sigh, I am sorry to hear that. I was hoping to hear that you are enjoying the car and all. What did the dealership say especially since you have a VIN already.

No dealer in the GTA knows what is going on. They just say it's delayed and have no further info. Every dealership says the status is B5 followed by the "decade" it was produced in.

Still sitting at the VPC along with others. But last week they said the status did finally changed to SURVEYED and someone else had their GM call VPC who said it was in process now. So think we are getting closer. After 8 weeks of nothing. Lots more showing up on Autotrader as in transit too.

I see, thanks for your update OP and good luck on your delivery. Hopefully it follows shortly for crester as well.

It really is crazy. Is there a point where you'll give up? I'm already starting to look at BMW M240i and Genesis G70 in case my order gets cancelled. But really... the CLA45 is the ideal car for me.

I believe the RS 3 is cancelled in North America otherwise you could had considered that if you liked products from the four ring brand. The S3 is probably too slow for you if you didn't consider the CLA 35 in the first place.

MBUSA's decision to remove some 45 models from their site as noticed by another forum member on a different thread isn't assuring. However, I am still hopeful both of you will get your vehicles, the W206 was set to arrive in Canada during Q1 for example but delayed to Q2, my thinking is things are coming just unfortunately delayed again and again. The status changing noted by forum member jeff.clt was good news so hopefully you both don't have to wait too long after all.

You would be wrong. the new RS3 is coming to the US this spring.

The 45 is an ok car but frankly I got rid of mine after 5 months because it was built like ****. For a 77k car I expected so much more and I came from a RS3 which was a better car in almost every possible way. If the 45 is canceled, look at the RS3.

Drove a CLA35, liked it -- its what got me to order the 45. But yeah, we'll get ours...someone else got info today via their dealer's MB rep that they are in fact waiting on a component for all these CLA 45's sitting at the port. So thats some news.

New RS3 is coming eventually--announced but no date. I'm coming from an Alfa Guilia so not expecting S class build quality -- just fun, quick and solid enough.

I dunno man... you seem a bit harsh. RS3 has a really strong engine but otherwise the interior is absolute shiet... looks are meh and the driving dynamics are that of an FWD car. And I have a TT-RS now... which I love... so I have experience with the platform.

You guys are lucky in the USA... RS3 isn't coming to Canada because it couldn't pass some emissions test.

I stand corrected, the decision of cancelling that model applies only to Canada.

Yup I read an memo shared by someone somewhere (need to find it again) that RS 3 is cancelled and only the RS 3 LMS Track version remains since it doesn't have to meet regulations to be street legal. I assumed it was for the whole North America as Audi Canada likes to follow Audi USA looks like we Canadians are getting the short end of the stick again after all.
