AMG = No Block Heater?

I am confused, why is it that all AMG vehicles do NOT come with a block heater? I realize this may be of no impact to some of the US folks, but here in Canada that seems ridiculous! Especially when the less expensive regular Mercedes vehicles all have it standard for Canada!

BMWs haven't had them for years. I don't think regular mercs have them either.

With 8 litres of synthetic, you don't really need one. I don't remember the last time I plugged in a car. Even when it is -35.

Some AMGs have the block heater as an option in Europe. It's called the Standalone Heater. However, not all AMGs offer this option due to the extra room required by additional oil cooling found on some AMG cars which takes up the room that the standalone heater would be in. Unfortunately this option has never been brought over to US market cars. You can always inquire with MBenzNL to see if a retrofit is possible, though.

Here is a company that manufactures all types of engine heaters. I used one of their silicone pad heaters on my motorcycle to keep weather fluctuations from producing condensation on chrome casings. They have many different types from oil pan to dipstick to radiator hose. 12v-120v, If you're looking to retrofit something you can probably get it here

I still think this is ridiculously, $74K for a loaded CLA 45 AMG car and no block heater!
